Vendition’s claim to fame is offering the very first bootcamp designed exclusively for future entry-level professionals working in the technology sales industry—at no cost to students. The school started as Sales Bootcamp, founded in 2015 by James Nielsen, who holds a Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford and now has over two decades of experience in sales. Nielsen started the school when he realized that many of the college graduates that he was hiring to work in technology sales had no familiarity with the field. Initially, the school focused on training students in the Bay Area and later New York City, until acquiring competitor Inside Sales Bootcamp to expand its digital offerings across the US. In 2018, Nielsen rebranded the school as Vendition, a word he coined to mean “the act of selling, ” and expanded internationally into Canada. Just one year later, Nielsen also founded Vendition Sales Society, an independent professional organization for college students interested in the field of sales, as Vendition continues to develop professional talent for sales positions.
Vendition’s main location is in San Francisco, in the world-famous Chinatown neighborhood. The school shares space with WeWork and several marketing businesses, half a block from St. Mary’s Square and one block from a plethora of bars and restaurants. Vendition also operates out of New York City as well as online.

Vendition offers two courses for students interested in learning and gaining experience in technology sales: the Vendition Sales Bootcamp and the Vendition Sales Apprenticeship. In the Vendition Sales Apprenticeship, fellows continue to train in technology sales development while working in one of the school’s business partners, gaining experience in areas like Salesforce, social selling, and sales metrics.
Vendition Sales Bootcamp students can study at the school’s in-person locations or online in a hybrid format that combines on-demand videos and assessments with an hour of scheduled live instruction on cold calling from a Vendition instructor. The course is designed to be studied part-time, and it takes a week to complete. All course materials, including quizzes and the final test, are available on the school’s Instructure learning management system. Students who go on to study in the Vendition Sales Apprenticeship have the opportunity to work with Vendition business partners around the US, including those located in Arizona, California, Colorado, New York, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Texas, as well as fully remote workplaces. The apprenticeship program lasts for three months, during which the school pays students $7,500 to work with their matched apprenticeship site.

The top-performing students in the Sales Bootcamp can apply for admission into the Vendition Sales Apprenticeship program. For the apprenticeship application, students must submit a resume and a short essay on their compatibility with the program. Admission into the apprenticeship program is highly competitive.
Both the Vendition Sales Bootcamp and the Vendition Sales Apprenticeship are tuition-free. The school emphasizes that fellows in the apprenticeship program not only do not have to pay tuition but also the school pays them to work with their business partners. Students also do not have to pay Vendition a percentage of their income once they have secured full-time employment. Vendition is funded by their business partners, which pay the school for the apprentice fellows’ talent.
The Vendition curriculum is fully career-oriented. The bootcamp program prepares students for the apprenticeship program, and the apprenticeship program prepares students for careers in technology sales development. Apprenticeship fellows receive three months of on-the-job training that is directly applicable to entry-level jobs in sales, and all fellows who complete the apprenticeship program are guaranteed jobs at their apprenticeship site. Students are not required to work in the guaranteed job, and their apprenticeship sales experience can be transferred into sales careers at other employers.
All graduates of the Vendition Sales Apprenticeship program are guaranteed a job with their apprenticeship’s host business, and 95% of those graduates take that offered job. The school advertises that its graduates receive job offers with an average annual income of $82,000. Graduates of the Vendition Sales Apprenticeship have found jobs at major businesses like Amazon Web Services, DocuSign, Glassdoor, and Prezi.
