Located in Paris, Apaxxdesigns has been delivering in-person education in French since 2004. The school is certified by the Qualiopi label, standardizing vocational training in France.

From its location in the suburbs of Paris, Apaxxdesigns specializes in professional-level education in creative fields such as video production, sound recording, and digital communication. It is the creative arm of the Yvon Education Group, which trains post-Baccalauréat students in all aspects of the modern work universe.

Under the direction of CEO and founder, musician and composer Jean-Louis Hennequin, Apaxxdesigns has been teaching students since 2008. The institution has been recognized as an official training center by multiple software companies, including as an Adobe Authorized Training Center and an Avid Training Partner Professional. The school is also certified by Qualiopi, the French quality control label for vocational training. Apaxxdesigns has two goals: creating professionals in the fields of video, sound, and digital communication and upskilling professionals currently working in those fields in the newest available technologies.

School Locations

The offices of Apaxxdesigns are located in the 11th Arrondissement in Paris, but all Apaxxdesigns classes take place at Ynov’s imposing facility at 12 rue Anatole France in Nanterre, in the western suburbs of Paris. The journey from the heart of Paris to Nanterre is about 50 minutes via RER N53.

Some of Apaxxdesigns’ classes are offered only live online, while others yet are available either in person or virtually.

Apaxxdesigns’ curriculum is divided into three fields: sound, video, and digital communication.

Under the sound rubric are included classes in music creation, production and mixing. Encompassed in that is instruction in a large body of software programs, ranging from Logic Pro X and the DAW Ableton Live to beat-making with NI Maschine and producing professional-quality scores using either Darico or Sibelius. The curriculum, if not exhaustive, is extensive.

The video classes focus on broadcast production and post-production. This entails instruction in digital photography using lightweight cameras, lighting for digital cinema, and video editing. Among the software products covered are DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Apple Final Cut Pro. A substantial battery of Avid classes is available as well.

The digital communications section of the course catalog covers the full range of skills necessary to get a career in marketing or support a business. A wide variety of classes cover such topics as branding, web design (UX design) and WordPress, and even instruction in how to create a podcast. Also included in this branch of Apaxxdesigns’s curriculum are classes in the Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and AfterEffects. What Classes Are Available?

The wide variety of sound classes at Apaxxdesigns takes students from very basic topics to very advanced ones. Anyone looking to make a career in today’s music world will find a useful syllabus amidst the class offerings. When it comes to digital music production, a novice can become acquainted with the basic functionality of Logic Pro in five days, and those with extensive experience in the field can increase their knowledge and take a five-day Logic ProX expert class that touches on such advanced topics as Flex Pitch and Synchro image and virtual instruments such as Alchemy and Sculpture. Other classes in the sound department cover the Ableton DAW (which has revolutionized electronic music production), PreSonus’ Studio One, Cubase, and ProTools. Classes in film music composition and production are also offered, teaching the Vienna Symphonic Library and musical notation software.

Instruction in the video production department begins with an eight-day class in how to use images to tell a story and how to use video editing to create a narrative. From there, the curriculum broadens to encompass video production using lightweight cameras and equipment (five days) or digital film production using professional cameras and lighting (ten days). Three 10-day classes in professional editing are offered as well: one in DaVinci Resolve, one in PremierePro, and one in Final Cut Pro. Finally, Apaxxdesigns offers five classes in the use of the Avid MediaComposer that prepare students for the MC110 and MC210 certifications.

The digital communication offerings start by guiding students through their first steps in forming a digital graphic identity for their business through building a presence using social media. A menu of classes in digital content production include such topics as conceiving and broadcasting a podcast (three days), video production using a smartphone (six days), and the fundamentals of lighting and composing photos using a DSLR (five days).

Also included under digital communication are courses in the Adobe Creative Cloud targeted at professional graphic artists and those responsible for digital communications. The Photoshop classes are a little bit out of the ordinary and include a three-day session covering retouching of photos and a five-day class in editing black and white fine art photography. The InDesign classes are more traditional and include, beyond an introductory three-day class, instruction in creating booklets, flyers, and folders (two days) and using character and paragraph styles (two days). On the Illustrator front, Apaxxdesigns’s curriculum includes another three-day introduction, then a three-day class in creating precise drawings with features such as the Brush tool, and, finally, a five-day course for those well acquainted with the software, covering vector drawing and using colors, textures, and effects.

Web design classes are also available, including a three-day class in building a WordPress website and a four-day follow-up that shows students how to use Elementor to create more elaborate and functional WordPress sites. Finally, for those with an interest in UX and UI design, there is a three-day class introducing Photoshop and Illustrator users to using Adobe XD to create wireframes and prototypes for websites.

Classes may be taken individually for targeted focus on a particular skill. They may also be assembled into longer course programs that can prepare students for the relevant professional certifications.

Class Formats

Apaxxdesigns offers its classes either at their Nanterre (Paris) location or live online using Microsoft Teams. Not all classes are available both ways, however.

The workday generally runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, with an hour’s break for lunch (not included). The class size for the in-person classes is capped at six students.

Admissions Process

Classes at Apaxxdesigns are open-enrollment, although most have clearly defined prerequisites. Prospective students should study the various class syllabi (available on the school website) and lists of prerequisites to ensure proper course placement. The school also interviews candidates to determine at which level they should begin to study.
