- To access InCopy's Thesaurus, go to Window > Thesaurus or use the keyboard shortcut Command–Option–F7 for Mac or Control–Alt–F7 for Windows.
- Select the word in the text you want to look up in the Thesaurus.
- Click the 'Load Word' button at the bottom of the panel to load the selected word into the Thesaurus.
- The selected word will appear in the 'Lookup' line at the top of the panel.
- Click the 'Lookup Word' button at the bottom of the panel to explore synonyms for the selected word.
- To change the selected word to one of its synonyms, click on the preferred synonym and then click the 'Change Word' button at the bottom of the panel. You can also double-click the synonym.

The Thesaurus
Using InCopy’s Thesaurus
Go to Window > Thesaurus or use the keyboard shortcut by pressing Command–Option–F7 (Mac) or Control–Alt–F7 (Windows).
Select a word in the text.

Click the Load Word button
at the bottom of the panel.
The word you had selected will appear in the Lookup line at the top of the panel.
Click the Lookup Word button
at the bottom of the panel.
- If you want to change the selected word to one of the Synonyms:
- Click on the Synonym you want.
- Click the Change Word button
at the bottom of the panel. (Or just double–click the Synonym.)
