Printing Layouts & Exporting Text

Learn the specifics of printing layouts and exporting text from InCopy, including choosing the correct view and printer. Discover how to export text as a rich text file for versatile use in various applications.

In InCopy, printing is accessed through the File > Print pathway.
The Printer menu allows you to select your desired printer.
From the View menu, you can choose between two print options: a Layout view that mirrors the InDesign/InCopy layout, or a Galley & Story view that prints only the text.
Exporting text as a rich text file is also accessed through the File menu, this time by selecting Export.
To ensure the exported file is in the correct format, you must set the Format to Rich Text Format at the bottom of the window.
The process of exporting text is completed by simply clicking Save.

Printing from InCopy

Go to File > Print.
Choose the desired printer from the Printer menu at the top.
From the View menu, you can choose to print:
- A Layout view which looks just like the InDesign/InCopy layout.
- Or a Galley & Story view which is just the text.

Exporting Text As a Rich Text File

Go to File > Export.
At the bottom of the window, set the Format to Rich Text Format.
Click Save.
