In this video, we'll begin adding text to the back of our postcard. Let's begin by selecting "Front Banners" as we'll be adding our text within our front banners layer.
Next, we'll be using the Type Tool, and we'll be adding text to our top banner. If we go into our PDF, we'll see that our top text says "Start a Career in Construction." We'll go into Illustrator, and in this case, let's simply click and begin typing.
We'll type "Start a Career in Construction." Now, we need to stylize our font. To do this, we'll triple-click on the text, and let's go to our character settings to select the font family.
From here, we'll begin typing "Nevis" as one of our downloaded fonts, and we'll select Nevis Bold. Next, we need to increase the size of our font. To do this, we'll click up on our font size, and I like the size of this font here.
However, we need to now change the dimensions of our banner. To do that, we'll hit Escape on the keyboard, and we now need to move the anchor points to the right side. To do this, we'll use the Direct Selection Tool, and we'll select the top anchor point, the center anchor point, holding Shift, and the bottom anchor point.
Then, with all of these selected, we'll drag it to the right until the text fits within the guide. We'll click outside, and here we can see that we have our text fitting well within our banner. As one final change, let's change the color of this text.
I'll hit V on the keyboard and select this text box, and let's change it from black to white. We'll go to our color panel and select white, and here we can see that we have our text in front of our banner. Let's now add text to our bottom banner.
To do this, we'll again use the Type Tool, and we'll simply click and begin typing. If we go to our PDF, we can see that this says "Meet Industry Leaders and Hiring Directors." We'll go back into Illustrator and begin typing "Meet Industry Leaders."
Next, let's change our font for this bottom banner. We'll triple-click, and rather than using Nevis, this time we're going to use a font that's more appropriate for the subtext, and we'll type "Chivo." With Chivo, we have multiple options; feel free to choose whatever you prefer.
In this case, I'm going to choose Chivo Light Italic. I also want to decrease the size of this text, so we'll go to our construction bar, and we'll decrease the font size. I'll leave it at about this size, 12 points; however, with this, we also need to change the dimensions of our banner.
To do this, I'll hit Escape on the keyboard and then select the rectangle behind the banner. I'll then simply drag it to the right, and here we have our text fitting well within the banner. If we click outside, we can see how it looks in the preview.
We've now completed our banners and our text. We still need to add our title, the details within a box, and the woman recruiter. For now, let's save our work using CTRL + S on the keyboard, and in the next video, we'll begin adding our title.
See you there!
