Designing Sprinkler Systems for Library and Corridor Areas on Level 1

Populating Sprinklers in Library and Corridor Areas on Level 1 Reflected Ceiling Plan

Discover how to populate sprinklers in both the library and corridor areas of Level 1, while learning to adjust for different ceiling heights using the Annotate tab in Spot Elevation. Understand how to select the correct sprinkler system and properly set their elevations according to the room's ceiling height.

Key Insights

  • The article provides a detailed walkthrough on how to populate sprinklers in a building design, specifically focusing on the library and corridor areas of Level 1.
  • It emphasizes the importance of noting different ceiling heights and demonstrates how to use the Annotate tab in Spot Elevation to set these heights correctly.
  • The article also guides the reader on how to select and confirm the correct sprinkler system for different areas and how to adjust the sprinkler's elevation to match the room's ceiling height.

In this video, we'll be populating our sprinklers in the library and corridor areas of Level 1. So in our Level 1 Reflected Ceiling Plan, let's go to here, and we'll start in the library. First thing we should do is we should note that we do have several ceiling heights, so let's use our Annotate tab in the Spot Elevation tool. Go on ahead and turn off the leader, and let's just set these heights in each area, and see we have a soffit area around the library at 8'8", and the ceiling height of the library is 10'.

Okay, so now when we confirm our hosted sprinklers, we know that it's at the right elevation. All right, so let's go to the System tab, Sprinkler, and let's choose our Acoustical Ceiling Tile Sprinklers first. We'll go to our half-inch Pendant on a drop.

We've got our Semi-Recess Sprinklers. Let's start at this intersection. Zoom in.

Okay, and we'll move this. We can type MV. We'll go up one foot, hit ENTER to repeat the command, and let's go over one foot.

All right, now let's copy these over 14'. That looks good. Before we continue, let's select all the sprinklers, choose Level 1 at 10', which matches our library ceiling height.

Let's go on ahead and finish the ACT Ceiling areas before moving on to the Gyp board hard-lid ceiling areas. Now in this case, it looks like I was off. It's okay.

We'll go back to this one, copy, make sure I'm going straight, 14' and reset to Level 1. Okay, create similar. We'll start up here in the vestibule. We'll go to this intersection.

Okay, in the office, we'll go here and there. The storage room, let's go to here and here. Same in this storage room.

We'll go here and there. In the periodicals room, we'll just have one and go right there. Okay, now let's go on ahead and select all of these.

Hold the Control key. We know we're at the intersection, so all we need to do is move them at the same time. We will go up one foot and enter.

Repeat the command and over one foot. Now we have different ceiling heights, so let's confirm starting in the vestibule. Level 1 at 10'.

Okay, 9'. These are at 9'. Okay,
