Welcome to VDCI Intermediate Illustrator course. This intermediate-level course is designed for working professionals and individuals interested in utilizing Illustrator for their professional or personal advancement. Throughout this course, we'll break down advanced uses of Illustrator to complete various projects.
We'll introduce tools and techniques helpful for creating intermediate-level vectors as well as graphic materials. Let’s begin by diving into our coursework.
If we open up our 'This PC' folder and select the C drive, we'll double-click it, and we can see that we have our unzipped folder.
To make this folder more accessible, let's right-click on it and select 'Pin to Quick Access.' From here, we can see that the folder is on the left-hand side and easily accessible within Quick Access. If we prefer, we can click and drag the folder within Quick Access and move it to the top.
By clicking on it, we’ll be able to see the contents of our folder and easily access it throughout the course.
Now let’s go over the materials we'll be creating throughout the course. If we open up our preview images JPEG, we can double-click it, and we’ll see the projects we'll be working on throughout Intermediate Illustrator.
The first project will be to create a wireframe website image, which will include all the necessary components for our fictional client's website. This will include a logo space, titles, a search bar, a shopping cart icon, as well as buttons and customizable background images.
Next, we'll work with pie charts, where we’ll create a custom pie chart with graphics and text to highlight the chart. We’ll then replicate the chart and give it a more customized look.
In our third project, we’ll create a three-panel display, showcasing three panels of text and highlighting three different icons.
Throughout this project, we'll discuss layout and various strategies for arranging our artwork.
Finally, in the latter half of the course, we’ll work on our city reflection project. We’ll create a city, customize windows, add a moon background with stars, and create a reflection.
Finally, in our last project, we'll receive materials from our client, including color swatches and a sketch that we will turn into a vector image for our client.
As we can see, we have multiple projects to get started on, so let’s begin in the next video, where we’ll work on our website wireframe.
See you in the next video!
