In this video, we're going to begin stylizing the text as the descriptions for each of our team members. Let's first start by selecting this text on the right side and for now let's simply delete it.
Instead we're going to be making specific text frames for each of our team members. To do this let's utilize our type tool and we'll make sure that we're in our text layer. From here let's drag out a text frame starting on the top right hand side and dragging so we're in line with the top and bottom of our circle as well as right across the center of our circle.
Release and let's fill this with placeholder text. Right clicking and selecting fill with placeholder text. From here we now need to adjust this so that it's aligned on the right side and there's text wrapping applied.
So to do this we utilize our selection tool and select our image and now this time at the top we can go up to wrap around object shape and so we'll click and because the selection is both objects and it's a group it aligns only to the right hand side. If we want this rounded instead we have to hit CTRL Z and we have to select only one object from the group. In this case we'll double click and let's select the image inside.
From here if we select wrap around object shape we'll see it's rounded on the right hand side. We can also increase this hitting up on the keyboard and let's leave it at 0.25 inches or however large is appropriate for your circle. From here we can click outside and hit w on the keyboard and this looks nice and rounded right around the image.
Next let's work on our actual description for our individual. To do this we'll click inside the text frame and let's simply delete this first line hitting the backspace key and I'll capitalize the a then I'll drop this down to another line and click up top. For this individual we don't have their specific name so I'm simply going to type name here and then adding a space I'll type job title.
While we've been able to apply different paragraph styles in the past in this case we actually want to apply a character style specifically to this text. If we were to apply a paragraph style it would affect all of the text on the line however we can get a little more specific instead by just selecting the characters that we want and applying a character style. From here let's go to character style and for our fill now we're going to change this from black and instead we'll utilize our eyedropper tool and let's click the green circle on the outside.
Additionally let's also change our character we'll go to chivo and from our drop down let's select bold. We can also increase the size of this font let's bring it all the way up to 17. From here I'll go back to the type tool and click on the right hand side and I think this looks good.
Let's now save this character preset so that we can use it in the future. To do this we'll go into character styles and we'll create a new style. Here we'll type staff member and hit ENTER and let's now define job title.
We'll also change the characteristics from here so it's different from the text below. We'll again select chivo but this time rather than light let's select light italic. We'll also increase the font size up to 17 again and let's now create a new style for this.
We'll go to create style and we'll type job title and hit ENTER. If we click outside now we can see that we have the name and the job title and let's add three extra spaces here and now if we hit CTRL shift a to deselect and w we can zoom out and I like the look of this. We've got some diverse text here and our normal text below.
If we click and highlight this text we'll see that it's contained within our basic paragraph that we've identified before. Now let's recreate the same text frame for the remaining staff members. We'll hit CTRL shift a to deselect and then hit w on the keyboard and let's utilize our selection tool to copy this text here and drag it below holding ALT and shift so we drag only vertically.
We'll release and again holding ALT and shift we'll drag below so we now have text to the right of each of these individuals. However as we'll remember this text doesn't outline the image because we haven't wrapped the image. We'll again click on the object and double click to select only the image and going to text wrap now we'll select it and we'll move it out to 0.25 again.
We'll do the same thing below double clicking to enter the group and going to our text wrap we'll go to 0.25. As a final change, it feels a little boring having each staff member on the left side with the text on the right, so let’s change this by placing the center individual on the right-hand side. To do this, we’ll select him and drag over, holding shift until it’s aligned to the right-hand side. We’ll then select the text frame and simply drag it left, holding shift and release. We’ll see that it still has the same defined text wrap.
However, we do want to align our text now to the right so with it selected we’ll align right for our paragraph and click outside hitting w and this provides a little bit more diversity in the look. If we hit w again the last thing that we’ll need to change is our overset text. Instead of fix this we can click inside and right click selecting edit in story editor.
We can simply delete this text and hit period and close it and from here let's hit CTRL A to copy and then click inside and hitting CTRL A we'll hit CTRL V to paste making sure to hit CTRL A and right a line since we know that this text now fits within the frame. We'll then hit CTRL A again and hit CTRL V to replace the text and let's hit CTRL shift a to deselect now. If we hit w we'll see the result.
Well done let's now save our work hitting CTRL S on the keyboard to save and in the next video we're going to work with the master pages to create some page numbers. See you there!
