In this video we'll be working with our staff pages and we'll simply be working with the styles to make them more consistent. So let's begin by working on Clark Kent's page right here and we have work experience in all caps and if we triple click on this work experience in the past we've been utilizing our paragraph style and we have the style in text title.
However we can also work with our character styles and so in this case let's highlight work experience and for this title we'll turn on all caps even though this is in caps already and rather than bold let's have this be bold italic. We scroll over here we can now assign this specific character styling with chivo bold italic and the size as an identified character style. This is different from a character style because it can maintain its paragraph styles down below.
So to assign it as a new character style let's click the plus icon and let's simply title this staff title and hit ENTER. Additionally we can make edits to staff title by clicking the drop down and clicking edit. From here we can make changes and identify basic character formats we'll identify bold italic chivo and we can even manipulate the size to be 15 and we'll click okay and we've now identified this staff title.
If we scroll down now we can highlight experience within victor stone's page and we're going to want to add work before since we have work experience on the other two pages. We'll then highlight work experience and we can match the same character style by selecting staff title. Finally let's do the same thing for our work experience on this left hand side and we'll identify staff title and next we have a few other sections that we want to identify as titles as well.
For instance skills we'll select and click staff title responsibilities key skills and competencies and over here we have key skills and competencies again and let's go back up to the top and we've now identified all of these titles. One benefit to making this change and having everything assigned to a specific character title or paragraph style is when we want to make a change we can do so by simply redefining the style. So with work experience highlighted if we want to change it from 15 points to 16 points right here we can simply redefine the style and we'll see that all of the titles that we've already identified are now consistent with that redefined title.
Next let's do this one more time for the companies. We'll select company parks and dwell we'll go to character light italic and let's define this as a character style. Clicking new we'll type company and hit ENTER and then we'll define this.
Going to basic character formats we'll type chivo for our size we'll type 13 and we'll click ok. Next we'll define all of our companies and when we see mixed this identifies that it's not simply one individual style but it may be a company and if we highlight this as well we'll go to company and again we'll go to company finally up top here and now that we've identified all of these as company if we want to make any changes here we can do so. For example we can change it from light italic to simply back to italic, redefine the style and we'll see that all of our character styles are consistent now.
As one final change these are all written out in all caps so we're simply going to retype them and we've now finished up our staff pages. Well done! In the next video we'll begin working on page 10. See you there!
