In this video we're going to begin working on our second page. So going into our pages panel, we'll double-click our second page here, and let's hit W so we can see all the elements on this page.
As our first step, let's begin working with our text. Selecting the text frame, the first thing that we want to do is change this to two columns rather than one column. We can do this by having the text frame selected and scrolling to the bottom of our properties panel or dragging to the bottom.
We can go to our text frame and identify that we want two columns. If we zoom in, we can see the columns are marked by the red lines. However, to match the columns identified by our overall page, we need to increase the gutter.
So let's increase the gutter so that they'll line up right at 0.5 inches. If we zoom out, we can now see that we have our columns in line with our page. Next, let's begin defining our text.
At the top here, let's click and hit ENTER. We're going to enter in the title for this page. In this case, it's Cozy Space.
From here, let's define the characteristics for our title or our header. We'll go over to our character panel and click in here. Let's type in Chivo and we're going to use Chivo Black again.
And for the size, let's increase it a bit and let's bring it all the way up to 25 points. Next, we want to add a little more space between our title and the actual text below. So to do this, let's drop down to Space After and let's simply increase it.
In this case, I like the amount of white space, so let's set it to 0.25 inches. With this heading or our title now changed, we can actually save this specific layout for all of the titles within our newsletter. To do this, we're going to go all the way to the top now, scrolling to the top of properties.
And within paragraph styles, we're going to select create style. To do this, we'll now retitle this and I'll title this Heading and hit ENTER. In the future now, if we want to apply this exact same style of Chivo Black at 25 points, we can simply go to the top and select 'Heading' from the dropdown.
Next, let's stylize the text below. So clicking on it will highlight all the text in these columns. And from here, let's also change it to Chivo, but rather than using Black, let's use Light.
In addition, I like a little extra white space, so we're going to change the leading from the auto-leading and we'll change it up to 16 points, so we have a bit more space between our letters. Also, let's highlight it and add a little more space between our paragraphs. To do that, we'll go into space after and let's increase it to 0.125. I think this is a nice amount of space between paragraphs.
With this text right here, let's now define it as our basic paragraph. We'll highlight it and go into text style. We already have basic paragraph here, so we could create a new style or we'll see on the right-hand side, we have this blue icon signifying that we can redefine the style.
If we click it, we'll successfully redefine the basic paragraph style. We click outside. I like the text looking like this with our top heading and our basic paragraph text below.
In addition here, we can also see that we have overset text identified by the red square on the bottom right-hand side. To remove this, we'll right-click and select 'Edit in Story Editor.'
From here, this simply shows the very simple text that we have within this text frame.
Since this is placeholder text, we'll add a period here and delete everything that's overset, identified by the overset line.
We’ll click and hold, then scroll down within the Story Editor, hold SHIFT, and drag to the end to delete the overset text.
From here, we no longer have any overset text, so let's close the Story Editor.
As our next step here, let's now import our images. To do this, we'll go into our Layers panel and for now, let's lock our text layer. Then, selecting our first image frame, let's go to Import File and from our document, we can tell that we need to import our two brick feature images.
I'll choose the second one for our top image, click open, and then right-click and select 'Fit Content-Aware.'
If we want to make adjustments, we can simply drag it over clicking on the center circle or hitting A on the keyboard and feel free to adjust it to your liking. I kind of like that it's blurred on the left-hand side.
Now, clicking the bottom text frame, we'll also import a file and in this case, we'll import the first feature and click open. Again, we'll right-click and select 'Content-Aware Fit' and again, feel free to adjust as you prefer, or, if you need to resize, press A, click, and hold SHIFT to resize proportionally.
Again, with this image, I like that it's slightly blurred in the corner and at the top left.
As our final change here, let's select this image, hitting V on the keyboard and we're going to simply drag it in so it's in line with our paragraph. When we've finished, we'll hit CTRL S on the keyboard to save our work and in the next video, we'll finish up this page and begin working on our next page. See you there.
