Customizing Your Image: Adding a City Title to Your Design

Enhancing Your Image: Personalizing Your Design with a City Title

Explore how to customize the use of a created image by altering it to represent a specific city. This involves adding modifications such as text layers, changing colors, and adding effects like outer glow to create a personalized city title.

Key Insights

  • The first step towards personalizing your created image to represent your preferred city involves unlocking a reflection layer to make space for a new title. This step is followed by the creation of a new layer which is titled appropriately.
  • Next, a text layer is created using the type tool. The font size can be increased for visibility, and the name of the preferred city can be typed in. The text color can be modified from black to white, and adjustments can be made to its size and alignment.
  • Further customization can be achieved by adding special effects such as outer glow to the title. The size of the outer glow can be adjusted for desired effect. Changing the backdrop of the city skyline is also possible by unlocking the city layer, hiding it, and pasting a new skyline.

In this video, we're going to go over one other way that we can utilize the image we've created—and that's by customizing it to your preferred city. In order to do this, we're going to make a couple of modifications.

The first step is to unlock our Reflection layer and hide it. From here, we now have space to add in our own title. So let's go to the bottom and create a new layer, titling this “City Title, ” and hit ENTER.

From here, we can create a text layer using the Type Tool. We'll simply click and drag, and then change our font size from 12 to 150 and hit ENTER. We'll type the name of the city we prefer. In my case, I'll simply type “City Title” and hit Escape on the keyboard.

From here, we'll make a couple of modifications—first, changing the Fill from black to white and clicking OK. Next, let's center our text and double-click the circle on the outside to enable resizing and moving. In this case, I'll make it a little bit bigger. Finally, let's align it to our Artboard by selecting Horizontal Align Center.

Next, we want to add a little more character to our title. We'll go to Effect > Stylize, and select Outer Glow. If we click Preview, we can make adjustments here.

In this case, I'll select white and click OK. For the Blur setting, we can increase it to create a stronger glow effect, then click OK. If we want to further change the size or glow, we can do that. This is just one example of how this title can be customized for a city.

To change this to a specific city, you could replace the background or backdrop of the city skyline. All you'd need to do is unlock the current city layer, hide it, and paste in your new skyline.

Hopefully, you've enjoyed this video on how to adapt this image for your own creative work. If you'd like, let's hit CTRL+S on the keyboard to save our work. In the next video, we'll be working on something new.
