In this video, we'll be adding additional text elements to the right of each of our icons. In order to do so let's utilize our type tool.
We'll start by drawing a rectangle on top and for this one let's type in the phone number of our choosing. Once you've entered the phone number let's highlight this text. In order to match the same font we could go into our character panel and line it up so it's the exact same styling for our character or we can utilize another tool.
We'll use our eyedropper tool. Our eyedropper tool can be utilized to match colors or font styling. So in this case with all of this highlighted we can simply hover over the text we would like to mimic and we'll click and see that this text now matches the same font family styling and size and other characteristics.
Now let's make a couple modifications. The first modification we're going to make is changing it from bold within our properties panel and let's move it down to light. In addition let's also change the size of our text dropping it down to nine points.
And finally let's change the size of the entire text frame by using the shortcut CTRL + ALT + C to shrink it down so the text frame matches the size of the text. We're now ready to add our text in down below. So utilizing our Selection tool let's grab our text and we're going to move it down until we see it's right in line and lined up against our icon.
As we can see on the right-hand side there are green lines indicating that we're perfectly even between the top and the bottom of the rectangle. Therefore we're centered within the rectangle. So let's leave it right here and we now need a little more space between our icon and our text.
One way that we could do this is by adding in an additional guide on the right-hand side of our icon similar to how we did on the left. In addition we can actually also push this text over with some paragraph styling. To do this we'll go into our properties panel and click the More Options within Paragraph.
From here we're going to go to the left-hand side and we're going to utilize Left Indent. And we can simply push it over clicking up, and we'll see that it moves over to the right to give it a nice space between our icon and our text. As we can see here from the red square with the plus in it we now have overset text.
If we zoom in we can drag the right-hand side and keep in line with the dimensions from top to bottom. We'll just drag it out to the right and here we now have our text set. Next let's add the additional text elements by copying the top phone number.
We'll hold ALT and click and drag below until we're in line with our second icon and let's do the same thing copying it holding ALT dragging below until we're in line with our next icon and one more time lining up with our website icon. Here we can see the indent is all the same and now we simply need to replace this text. In order to do so let's triple-click the next line of text and from here we're going to be typing in the email address.
And in this case my text frame isn’t quite wide enough so I'll utilize the Selection tool and just drag it out to the right and we'll move on to our next text element where we'll be typing in our location and finally we'll be typing in the website. Feel free to fill in these however you feel is appropriate and to see a preview we'll want to go into preview mode. The shortcut for this is W. However, if you type W now while we're still within the text frame it'll type the letter W therefore it's important to always remember we'll hit backspace first to hit CTRL + Shift + A to deselect and from here we can now hit W and see a preview of our work.
Well done! Let's now save our work hitting CTRL + S on the keyboard and in the next video we'll work on the other side of our business card. See you there!
