Careerist offers the option to waive tuition until the student has been hired. This is unlike other schools that require loan repayment upon the completion of the course regardless of job status. Careerist is a career accelerator that offers online bootcamps to train students to work in QA, DevOps, and Sales Engineering. Ivan Tsybaev, a serial entrepreneur; Max Gusakov, a technical expert; and Max Glubochansky, a QA engineer who has worked at industry giants like Intel and Apple, initially started the school as JobEasy. The trio founded the school in 2019, inspired by Glubochansky’s past struggles to land a job in the tech industry as a new immigrant. However, the co-founders realized that what they were offering was not a job placement service, but rather a career planning system where students can learn the skills to succeed in the tech workforce. Thus, the name changed to a more fitting one: Careerist. Careerist is a digital-native school. While the accelerator is headquartered in Miami, its course offerings and career services have been fully online since the school first opened its digital doors in 2019.

Subjects Taught at Careerist

Careerist trains students for jobs in quality assurance (QA), systems engineering, and tech sales, as well as for promotions in the software engineering industry. What Classes Are Available?

Careerist offers five classes and a career support service. The classes include training in Manual QA, QA Automation, Systems Engineering, and Tech Sales. In Manual QA, students learn the features of the industry and gain familiarity with testing and bugs in both web and mobile applications while getting experience with JIRA, SQL, APIs, and other tools of the trade. QA Automation students learn the ins and outs of automation and algorithms, including number and string algorithms as well as creating lists and sorting algorithms. As students advance in their careers, they can progress to higher levels of the program for additional training to become a sales engineer or a solutions Architect. CareerUp Junior helps junior software engineers develop their technical and management skills to advance in their careers. Participants in the Careerist Job Application Service (JAS) learn how to polish their professional profiles and job interviewing skills while, on behalf of the participant, the Careerist team applies for jobs that meet the participant’s desired criteria.

Class Formats

All Careerist programs run live online, with some on-demand options; some are full-time and others are part-time, depending on the course. Most Careerist courses run 6–11 weeks, during which students participate in instructional sessions, one-on-one mentorship, and hands-on projects as well as quizzes. Careerist advertises its programs as teaching only the essentials so that students are never working for the sake of working.

Admissions Process

In order to register for a program at Careerist, applicants submit their contact information to speak with an admissions advisor. The school does not share its admissions rate or if it operates on a model of open enrollment.

Pricing & Payment Options

Tuition for instructional programs at Careerist ranges from $5,799 to $8,499 for up-front payment. Careerist offers students a few options for financing their tuition, including payment plans and Income Share Agreements (ISA). The school also periodically offers tuition discounts.

Career Support Services

All students work with one-on-one mentors and job coaches who guide students through the job search process. Resume reviews and interview practice are also included. Most programs also give students the opportunity to work at in-house or external internships to develop on-the-job experience before applying to jobs. Careerist has an agreement with some partner businesses to give priority consideration to graduates that the school recommends.
