This session focuses on composition—the design choices and visual decisions that determine what a viewer sees and feels in a photograph. Students learn how to shape a scene, control where attention goes, and create meaning through framing, balance, and visual hierarchy.
The goal is to move beyond simply capturing what’s in front of you and toward building images with intention, where every element in the frame is there for a reason. By understanding composition as a system of deliberate choices, you’ll be able to create iPhone photos that feel more purposeful, compelling, and emotionally effective.
This class includes a dedicated 30 minutes of Q&A with Jack Hollingsworth.

Jack Hollingsworth is a professional photographer who has traveled the world taking pictures for commercial, advertising, and editorial clients for over 30 years. One day, he put down his big, heavy DSLRs, picked up an iPhone, started shooting, and rediscovered his love for photography.
Since his mobile conversion, Jack has shot over a million iPhone photos, using 10 different devices, in over 50 countries around the world, and he has become one of today’s leading authorities on smartphone photography.
His work has appeared in Apple’s #ShotoniPhone campaign, and he is a speaker at Apple stores worldwide.
