Mastering BIM 303: Creating Views, Sheets, and Detailed Layouts

Navigating Through BIM 303: Organizing Files and Setting Up Projects

Dive into BIM 303, a continuation of the BIM 302 course, where students will further develop their project using the start file from the resources section. This course emphasizes the creation of views, sheets, and details, and includes exercises using phases for future interior layouts.

Key Insights

  • BIM 303 is a progression from BIM 302, utilizing the same project but with a new start file downloaded from the resources section.
  • The course is centered around developing more views, sheets, and adding more details to the existing project. It also includes exercises using phases to design future interior layouts.
  • As with previous courses, students are encouraged to stay proactive to manage the workload effectively and are invited to ask questions should they arise.

Note: These materials offer prospective students a preview of how our classes are structured. Students enrolled in this course will receive access to the full set of materials, including video lectures, project-based assignments, and instructor feedback.

Hello and welcome to BIM 303. This is our continuation of the BIM 302 course, and for this class, we're going to continue with the same project from BIM 302. But just like all of our other courses here at VDCI, we'd like you to start with the BIM 303 start file that you download from the resources section.

Then you should have a folder that looks like this, and the first thing that we're always going to do is make sure we download these files to a location where we're aware of, so that we can always find them later. To get this class started, what I'm going to do is go to File, Save As, navigate to my new BIM 303 file downloads folder, and I'll go ahead and save it as BIM 303. Then I'll put my first and last name, and this is going to be the project that you'll use for the entire course.

So what we've done is just created the file that we'll use for this course. What we're going to do is focus on creating more views, more sheets, and adding more detail. Then we're going to jump into some exercises using phases that will allow us to create some of the future interior layouts.

So just like our previous classes, this one is going to be a lot of work in a short period of time, so it is always best to stay on top of everything as we go through the course. And, as always, if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a message.
