Welcome back to the VDCI video course content for the Revit MEP course, Mechanical. In the previous video, we went ahead and got our cover sheet laid out. Let's go ahead and start looking at maybe some of our mechanical details here.
So I'm going to go to my Mechanical Detail Sheet. We want to go ahead—I'm going to make sure I save my project. What I want to go ahead and do is I'm going to go to—I want to do that same insert from file.
And this time I'm going to load in multiple pieces. So I'm going to go Insert from File, Insert Views from File. I'm going to come down, go to Documents, my VDCI folder, BIM 321 file downloads, Families and References, Details and Schedules, hit Open.
I'm going to bring in just a few of the details here. So again, we can bring in many different items. Now you'll notice that some of these items say Schedule.
Well, this isn't really a true schedule. And I just want to address this right off the bat here. We kind of left these in here just to kind of bring this up, but you can see that this drafting schedule here—this is a drafting view and saying VAV Schedule.
So this really isn't an actual schedule of our VAVs from a Revit sense. This is just a drafted schedule. So just as a heads-up there. But down here, you can see that we have this Air Handling Unit Schedule.
That's going to be an actual schedule like we built earlier. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to bring in this Typical Manual Volume Damper Location Diagram. I'm going to go ahead and bring in Suspended Equipment.
I want to go ahead and bring in Roof Mounted Duct Detail. I'm going to go ahead and bring up—let's see here.
Not the Exhaust Fan Schedule—the Duct Through Roof Detail. I'm going to go ahead and bring off the Branch Duct Takeoff Detail. It's farther up.
I didn't scroll all the way up. I want to go ahead and make sure I grab this Air Distribution Connection Detail. Always make sure—always make sure—that you're scrolling up.
And then I want to make sure I'm going to get this Air Handling Unit Mounting Detail. We're bringing in—let's see—1,2, 3,4, 5,6, 7. We're bringing in seven different details. So I'm going to go ahead and hit OK.
That's fine. I'm going to go ahead and hit OK. And that has now populated all of these into here.
Some of them may have gone into our Plumbing. Nope, they didn't. We brought 1,2, 3,4, 5. And again, I think some of them got up here.
There we go. So what ended up happening—why these details, when they came in, came in up here—that is because they didn't have these items or these—the HVAC discipline assigned.
If I wanted to get these to sort properly so that I have them in the right location, I can come here to Sub-Discipline and I could change these to HVAC. And notice when I change these to HVAC, it put them in the right location in my Project Browser. Sometimes when you pull items from other projects, they may not be sorted in the same fashion.
So it's always good practice to make sure you get your Project Browser in order as you go. You don't want it to get to a point where everything's kind of everywhere. Then you’ve got to go back and re-sort it.
And it's hard to find things—that kind of thing. I'm going to go over to my Mechanical Detail Sheet. And we're going to bring in these details.
So I'm actually going to grab multiple views at once. So I'm holding Control and I'm selecting these views. I could use Shift and then hold Control and deselect.
I could do that. Sometimes I find if I have to jump over things, it's just really easy to go ahead and do that. I'm going to grab these details, click and hold, drag them in.
There we go. Now it's going to kind of just arrange them. I'll kind of get them in place of how I want them to be right now, but we're going to have to tighten this up a little bit.
So there we go. So I'm going to go ahead and start to slide these over just a little bit. Again, I might need to adjust them as I need to.
So some of them—this guy may want to come down here. This guy wants to come up, maybe over. I think we're going to have to just play a little bit of an adjustment.
There we go. I'm going to go ahead and actually bring these three down. You can also use—there we go.
Perfect. So—typical. There we go.
There we go. We brought in all of these details. Now you may want to go back and change your detail numbers.
I'm going to go ahead and leave them. So you can see I have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, six, seven. Let's go ahead and—let's see—six won't fit there.
So I'm going to go ahead and bring these around a little bit just to get them in the proper spot. If you need to change these extension lines a little bit, you can always zoom in and change those up. Let's go ahead and do this a little bit.
See, these don't look like they're quite aligned. There we go. There we go.
Okay. That's looking clear. I always like to use a little snap to get them aligned, but that's a quick and easy way to create your details.
Now, obviously you could go ahead and just draw your details in, but we're going to go ahead and keep moving forward with this. Sound good? Great. I want to go ahead and stop this video here.
In the next video, we'll get into the next steps. See you then.
