Learn how to create and customize an electrical equipment schedule, a crucial task for managing inventory and improving operational efficiency. This article takes you through the process step by-step, including how to add data fields, itemize instances, and update the appearance of the schedule.
Key Insights
- The article explains how to create an electrical equipment schedule by going to the View tab and selecting Schedule Quantities under the Schedules area. This can be filtered by Electrical Equipment.
- Data fields such as type, type mark for an ID, family information, panel name, and location data are added to the schedule. Additional fields like the maximum number of single pole breakers, manufacturer, and a URL can also be included.
- The schedule's appearance can be customized. This includes changing column names, updating the text, and adding stripes. All these steps contribute to a comprehensive and efficient electrical equipment schedule.
Now let's create an Electrical Equipment Schedule. We'll start by going to our View tab, pulling down the Schedules drop-down, and selecting Schedule/Quantities. We can filter by the Electrical category, and we're looking for Electrical Equipment. Then we'll click OK.
Now we can add in our Data Fields. If we’d like, we can include Type, our Type Mark for an ID, and then add in the Family information—Family and then Type. After that, we can add in the Panel Name, followed by the Apparent Power for Phases A, B, and C. We can also include some Location data such as Level and Location.
Next, let’s add the Max Number of Single-Pole Breakers, then the Manufacturer, and finally a URL (a website link). Once we’ve added all of that, we’ll click OK.
So here we are. We don’t need to group the entries. We’ll itemize every instance in this case and start adding some information. Column A can be labeled “ID, ” and our Transformer can be labeled “TR.” It will apply to all relevant instances.
That’s OK. Switchboards can be labeled “SB, ” and then we could use “PB” for Panel Boards. Next, like we did before, we can add the Manufacturer—such as “Electrical Equipment Company”—and provide a website, for example, www.electricalcompany.com (as an example). We can repeat this process to fill out all remaining information.
We can rename some of the columns as well. For example, the “Family” column could be renamed “Electrical Device or Equipment, ” and the “Type” column could be renamed “Equipment Type.” You can change any column label as needed.
We can also update the appearance. Click the Edit button next to “Appearance” in the Schedule Properties window. We’ll set the Title text size to 3/8", the Header text size to 1/4", and enable row striping.
We’ll leave the default color and click OK. There we go—this is looking pretty good. We now have a well-organized Electrical Equipment Schedule.
