Welcome back to the CAD Teacher VDCI video course content for BIM 322. What we want to go ahead and do is, in the previous video, we went ahead and actually created our zoning plan for the first floor. We want to go ahead and continue that on the second floor.

So let's go ahead, go to our HVAC Zoning Plan 2, and we're going to go ahead and continue that here. So let's go ahead under the Analyze tab; if you're not here already, go ahead and click to get here. Let's go to Zone, and let's go ahead—now currently, the name says VAV 2-2.

Let's change that to VAV 2-1. So I'm going to go ahead, finish that, and hit ENTER. And so what I'm going to do is I'm just going to hover over the space that I want to apply the zone to and pick.

And then I'm going to go ahead and hit Finish Editing Zone. I want to go ahead and delineate that with some hidden or dashed lines. So let's go to the Annotate tab here.

Let's go to Detail Line. Again, it's going to remember that line style, Hidden Lines. I'm going to go ahead and zoom in.

I'm going to choose the corner of the room, down to here. I'm going to hit Escape to end the chain. Go to the corner of the room here, pick, go up, pick there, and Escape to say I'm done.

And then Escape one more time to say I'm done with the Detail Line command. Now, do you notice how we already have the border there? That is because the border is being shown because in Visibility and Graphic Overrides, if you scroll down, if you hit VV and open this up, you see that HVAC Zones are checked on. Let's go ahead and leave those on for right now.

What I want to go ahead and do is I want to add the next zone. So I'm going to go ahead, Analyze. I'm going to go to Zone and come here.

But what do you notice? This space we know has two different VAVs, one up here and one about here. But we do not want to classify this as one zone. So this space has not quite been separated yet.

So I'm just going to go ahead and hit Cancel Editing Zone. And what I want to do is I want to separate this space. So what I'm going to do is, in this Analyze tab, I'm going to go to the Space Separator.

And this is going to create a line, much like a room separation line, that's going to actually partition the space into a smaller location. So let's go ahead, Space Separator. I'm going to go ahead, kind of line up at the middle of this, and I'm going to go about here, about five feet up from grid line four.

I'm going to pick, go across, pick again. Now what happens is I'm going to hit Escape to end the chain. What happens is that it actually creates a smaller space up here, but it does not divide that one large space into two spaces.

We need to go ahead and add a space in here. So I'm going to hit Escape completely again to get out of that Add Space Separator. I'm going to go to Space now.

I'm going to go ahead and hover here and pick. And then go ahead and hit Escape. Now what's happened is it's placed another space tag.

I don't necessarily need this to happen, so I'm just going to select the space tag and then delete just the space tag. And it's going to give us a warning. It says the space tag was deleted, but the corresponding space still exists, so it's still there.

I just didn't want to double up on the tags. I'm going to go ahead and close this. And then now I'm ready to place my zones.

So I'm going to go up here to Zone, Add Space. I'm going to hover here, make sure I get the correct space, pick there. As you can see, I have the zone; Finish Editing Zone.

Again, I want to now go to the Annotate tab, Detail Line, choose from the corner of the walls to down, and just place it about here. There's not really a snap at that point, but that's okay. I'm going to pick here, go up, and I've got to zoom in a little bit.

I might have to hit TAB to cycle through my different snaps. Pick there and hit Escape. And we've created that zone.

I'm going to hit Escape again to get out of the Place Detail Lines. I want to create the zone for this room down here, Analyze, Zone. And as you can see, it's continuing the numerical naming.

The zone up here was VAV2-1. This one's VAV2-2. The next one that we place is VAV2-3.

I want to go ahead, add this space, pick here, Finish Editing Zone. I want to go to the Annotate tab. I'm going to Detail Line, zoom in just to make sure I get my snaps, pick here and pick there, Escape once to end the chain.

I'm going to go here at that endpoint, go down to this corner of the room here, and Escape and Escape to say that I'm done. Great, so we've got those three zones completed. I'm going to go ahead and pan up to the office up here.

I'm going to go to Analyze. And again, I'm just creating another zone for that Office 201 zone. Add Space, choose this space here.

That's great. Finish Editing Zone. Go to the Annotate tab, Detail Line.

Again, the Hidden Line still remains our line style. Zoom in here. I'm going to go from the wall there.

I'm going to TAB to cycle through my snaps until I get that end point. Escape to end the chain. Come to this end point here.

TAB to cycle through my snaps. Pick there. Escape, Escape.

Ready to add my next zone. I'm going to go Analyze, Zone. Hover over the zone here, or the space here, excuse me.

Pick there. Finish Editing Zone. I'm going to go to Annotate tab, Detail Line.

And again, I'm just continuing the same process for each zone. It may seem kind of repetitive, but again, we're starting to detail these sheets out for our actual construction docs. There's that.

I want to go ahead, hit Escape to get completely out of the Detail Line command. Analyze, Zone. And again, it's keeping that naming scheme, which is perfect.

Hover here. Pick. Finish Editing Zone.

Go to Annotate tab, Detail Line. And draw in the Detail Lines to designate the space.

There. Here to here. Oops.

There we go. I'm going to go back to the Analyze tab, Zone.

Pick this space here. Finish Editing Zone. We want to go to the Annotate tab.

To Detail Line. And just draw in the Detail Lines like we have been doing for each specific zone. I'm not going to the boundaries of the zone, because the boundaries of the zone tend to encompass a little bit more.

I'm going to the edges of the walls of the room. Hit Escape to get completely out of Detail Lines. Go to the Analyze tab.

I'm going to go to Zone. Select this space here. VAV 2-8.

Perfect. Finish Editing Zone. Annotate.

Detail Line. And draw in the Detail Lines. Again, I'm just hitting Escape once to end the chain.

And then Escape again to get out of that Place Detail Lines command. Got one more. Or actually, excuse me, two more.

Analyze, Zone. Select this space here.

Finish Editing Zone. I'm going to go to my Annotate tab, Detail Line.

Zoom in a little bit. Zooming in makes it a little bit easier to select my snaps. Escape once to end the chain.

Come up here to there. Escape again. And Escape totally.

I need to create one more zone for the hallway. I'm going to go ahead and go to the Analyze tab, Zone here.

Add Space. Hover over the hallway here. Perfect.

Finish Editing Zone. Let's go to the Annotate tab, Detail Line.

Again, Hidden Line is our line style. I'm going to zoom up here. Pick on this upper corner.

I'm going to come all the way down to down here. Hit Escape to end the chain. Start here.

Go all the way up. Pick there. Escape.

Escape to get out of the Complete Detail Line command. Zoom Extents. And we've now created our zones.

Let's go ahead and add our tags in right now. Let's go ahead, go to Tag All.

I want to scroll down, find Zone Tags. I do want to give them a leader.

I'm going to go ahead and hit Apply. Hit OK. And there they are.

Now, for some reason, it didn't want to place these outside of the area, and that's because we didn't click. But that's fine. Let's go ahead and manually adjust these very fast.

So I'm going to click on one of them. And it's going to do this kind of funky thing, and that's fine. I'm just going to go ahead and drag this guy down.

Place it straight out. And remember, we want to go ahead and place the end tag of this kind of close. So let's go ahead, or close to the location of the VAV.

So let's go ahead and make sure that we're selecting all our VAV tags. So I'm going to pick here. Pick here.

I'm just holding Control and going through and selecting all the VAV tags. There we go. I'm going to change the leader from an Attached End to a Free End.

It's going to move them around a little bit, and that's perfectly fine. I'm going to go ahead and hit Escape to say I'm done. And what I want to go ahead and do now is I want to orient these tags in the correct locations.

I can grab those little tag ends there. Again, I'm not being perfect with exactly where the VAVs are. I'm just approximating the exact location.

I'm going to drag this guy up so it's straight. Again, I'm going to select this guy here. VAV2-4 is about here.

I'm going to bring this tag to be down about here. Bring this guy out. And this tag is actually going for the room down here.

As you can see, we kind of have that VAV2-5 up here. So I'm just going to move this guy down. Move this guy out to here.

Bring that down. Bring that over. I'm going to select that VAV2-6.

Pick about here. There. Bring the VAV2-7.

And again, I always kind of want a straight leg terminating into this. I can always go ahead and make this guy straight also. Sometimes it takes a couple tries.

And there it is. Down here. So it's straight.

There's that. Bring this one over here. There's that.

If you notice, we kind of had a little bit of an issue here. And it's not a big deal. We just need to move the tag around.

This VAV2-10 tag technically goes to the hallway. So I'm going to go ahead and grab it. Move it down to here.

And that VAV is about here. Go ahead and bring this guy down so I have a straight leg. And then the VAV2-2.

Bring it out to here. Bring it down. And there we are.

We have all of our tags. I'm going to go ahead and make these guys straight up here just to be consistent throughout the entire drawing.

There we go. Zoom Extents. The last thing I want to go ahead and do is I don't want to see the boundaries of my actual zones.

So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go back into VV. I will save the project. If this does pop up, go ahead and save.

And synchronize. And what I want to go ahead and do is I'm going to go down and find that HVAC Zones, expand it out, and turn off just the boundaries.

I'm going to leave the color fill on. Just have the boundaries turned off. Apply.

OK. And there we are. We've created our zoning plan for our second-floor mechanical.

What we'll be doing next in the next few videos is going ahead and starting to set up sheets for these plans. See you soon.
