InDesign: Make Object Styles Format the Text Inside

InDesign Style Spectacular

Object styles typically control the look of an object, but can also format the text inside! Here's how:

  1. Create one or more Paragraph styles.
  2. If you want to have sequential styles applied (such as heading, then subhead, then text) be sure to set the Next Style option appropriately in each style (as previously explained).
  3. Create or edit an Object style.
  4. On the left, click on Paragraph Styles.
  5. From the Paragraph Styles menu choose the style you want to apply. If you want to apply multiple sequential styles, choose the first style and then check on Apply Next Style. (InDesign uses the info in each paragraph style to know which styles come next.)
