Understand the process of aligning sprinklers in a corridor using measurements and carrying out modifications to achieve precision. Discover the steps involved in copying the sprinkler alignment from one level to another for consistency and accuracy.
Key Insights
- The dimensions of the corridor were checked to ensure precision, with the distance from the sprinkler to the outside wall and the distance from the wall to the sprinkler noted specifically.
- Discrepancies were identified in the measurements, indicating that adjustments needed to be made for accuracy, with the sprinklers being off by 5 inches as discovered during the dimension check.
- The sprinklers from level 1 were copied to level 2 to maintain consistency in alignment, with extra sprinklers added where necessary, and ensuring that all sprinklers were set to the correct level.

Now, what about the corridor? Let's see what's going on. Why don't we confirm some dimensions? We'll go back to the corridor here. We can see the distance from this sprinkler to this outside wall is 5 feet, ½ inch, and the dimension from here to the sprinkler is 5 foot 6, and here to the wall is 1 foot 9. Let's run some dimensions to verify if they match. We'll pan back down.
Type DI. Let's select this wall. Now, we don't want the centerline of the wall, so press TAB and ensure you select the center of the sprinkler.
It's showing 5 foot 5 and a half. It appears we're off by about 5 inches. Let's escape out of our dimension tool.
Now, how about this other side? Let's confirm this dimension.
Let's check this by pressing DI, then use Tab to select the centerline of the sprinkler. Again, press TAB carefully to avoid any extra dimensions.
Find a suitable spot. It says 5 foot 6. That looks good.
It seems we're just off by those 5 inches on one side. So let's select only the sprinklers located in the corridor area. You might need to zoom in to select them clearly.
If you need to select multiple sprinklers, hold down Control. Let's escape first, then double-check our selection using the filter because dimensions might be selected by mistake. Unselect the dimensions and click OK.
Now, select Move, and we'll move them 5 inches. That looks much better.
Before deselecting them, notice they're currently not associated with a level. Set these sprinklers to Level 1. That looks good.
Next, let's look at our Level 2 reflected ceiling plan. We have a similar scenario here—sprinklers exist in part of the corridor, but they're missing from another section.
What if we copy the sprinklers from Level 1 to Level 2? Let's return to our Level 1 reflected ceiling plan and select just these sprinklers. We'll stop selection at the classrooms.
Use the filter again to ensure dimensions or any unintended elements aren't selected. Confirm we only have sprinklers selected, and click OK.
Now, select Copy to Clipboard. Move to the Level 2 reflected ceiling plan.
From the Paste dropdown, select Align to Current View. Let's zoom in and inspect closely.
That looks correct. We'll still need to add some additional sprinklers manually in this area since it's not exactly identical.
In the workroom and the remainder of this corridor, we'll add sprinklers to this level manually. But first, select these newly pasted sprinklers again, and verify they're set correctly to Level 2.
Set them to Level 2. That looks good. In the next video, we'll verify a few more details and add additional sprinklers to both levels.
