This self-paced financial accounting course is perfect for beginners looking to build a strong foundation in accounting principles. Over two days, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of key financial accounting concepts essential for careers in accounting, bookkeeping, and finance-related fields. The course covers the users and sources of financial reports, different types of financial statements, and the importance of adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You'll also learn to distinguish between cash and accrual accounting, and explore income statements, profit ratios, and important line items.
The course then moves into more advanced topics, including accrual accounting specifics like depreciation and amortization. You’ll also dive into analytical tools such as Trailing Twelve Months (TTM) and Year-over-Year (Y/Y) comparisons. As you progress, you'll study balance sheets, cash flow statements, and detailed income statements, as well as how to handle unusual items. By the end of the course, you'll have the knowledge and skills needed to confidently apply financial accounting principles in a professional setting.
