Discover how to create stunning exterior renderings using high settings, screen resolutions, and a mix of interior, exterior, sun, and artificial light sources. Learn how adjusting elements like the sky, materials, lighting, and sunlight position can affect the final product's quality and view.
Key Insights
- The article explains the process of creating an exterior rendering, using high settings and a combination of interior, exterior, sun, and artificial light sources, which might result in a compelling aesthetic.
- Rendering time can vary depending on the lighting source used. For instance, using sunlight as the primary lighting source can significantly reduce rendering time compared to using artificial lights.
- Further refinements in materials, lighting, and the sunlight position can enhance the final product's quality and view, demonstrating that the quality of a render corresponds directly to the amount of effort put into it.

So I've done the same thing that we did for our interior rendering. I set it to high for our settings, and then I've got the screen resolution, and I'm sticking with that interior/exterior sun and artificial because I think it'll look cool. One of the things I could have done here is maybe adjust the sky to have different clouds but I think we're going to end up with a pretty cool result.
So on my computer it took about 11 minutes or so to do the interior rendering and I imagine that on the exterior it'll be significantly quicker because they just tend to go a lot faster with the sunlight as the primary lighting source than they do with the artificial lights. Now we've just passed that five-minute mark here and you can see that we're at 69% whereas before we were, you know, barely at 50% on the interior. We're just about there and it's looking pretty good.
Okay, so the rendering is just about finished and it's looking pretty good. Again, same deal as the interior one. The amount of effort that went into the final product was pretty low and so we could spend more time refining materials, more time adjusting lighting and the sunlight position and all of those things to get the quality and view that we're looking for.
But for the amount of effort we've put in at this point in time, I think it looks fantastic. We're going to do the same thing. We're going to save it to the project.
This one we're going to call exterior rendering, and then we'll export it and we'll call it exterior rendering and we have the JPEG and it's all ready to go.
