Explore the vital steps in creating sheets in Revit Structure once the building modeling is complete. Learn how to import the right title block, load it into the sheet effectively, and rename and customize it to suit your project needs.
Key Insights
- Sheets are created in Revit Structure by importing an appropriate title block from the saved location, usually on the C drive, and loading it into the project using the 'Insert tab' and 'Load from library' option.
- After successfully inserting the title block into the project, it can be further customized by renaming it, and adding the project information such as the project name and address in the 'Manage' section under 'Project information' settings.
- Parameters for drafting sheets are established by filling in the necessary information in the properties panel. This includes the project number, issue date, and names of the approver, student, and person who has drawn the sheet.

Hello, welcome to Revit Structure. Let's get started. Now that we've finished modeling the building, let's take a look at creating sheets.
First off, we're going to import the title block from our C drive that we downloaded previously. First thing we want to do is we want to go to the insert tab. We'll want to go to the load from library, load family.
Let's pick that. Let's go to our computer. Let's go to our C drive where we have downloaded our information.
Let's go to our BIM folder. And here you see we have the current title block that we're going to use for this project. Let's pick it.
Let's open it. And it's been inserted into our project. Now when we pick sheets, we're going to right-click on it.
We're going to pick new sheet. And you see the title block has been loaded into our project. Is it okay? And there you have your first sheet, and it's titled S1 as a default.
What we'll want to do is we'll want to drop this down. Let's right-click on it and let's rename it. We're going to rename this sheet S2.1. And we're going to call it Foundation Plan.
Is it okay? And here you see in the title block, it's automatically changed it to S2.1 and Foundation Plan. Okay, now that we've renamed the sheet, let's put in our project information here. Where we're going to go is we're going to go to manage.
And we're going to go to project information on our settings. Let's pick that. And here you see we get a dialog box with various information that we're going to enter into the drawing.
For our project, we're going to place our project name here. And what we're going to do is we're going to put in BIM dash three four two and dash your name. And for the project address, we'll pick here and we'll put CAD teacher comma San Diego California.
Is it okay? Okay. Okay, now we've set the parameters for all of our drafting sheets. Now we've set all the parameters for our project sheets.
Okay, let's finish placing all the other parameters. What we want to do is take a look at this corner down here. And if we go to our properties panel, we see we have information here to fill.
Approver is CAD teacher, so we'll do CT. We'll use student name here, so place your initials. Student name.
Check by CAD teacher. We'll put in CT here and drawn by you, student, your name. Very good.
We see we have an issue date here and the sheet name. Okay. Let's click OK.
And you see we've populated our information on this sheet. Our project number. Again, we'll have to go back to project information.
Place our project number here. BIM 342 and our date, our issue date here. Which will be the date that you issue for your final drawings.
Okay, very good. Let's zoom out. Take a look at our sheet.
This is going to be the basis for the rest of our project. That's it for this video. See you in the next one.
