Creating Campus Site Plan View for Campus CAD File Integration

Setting up the Campus Site Plan View for Integrating Campus CAD and Revit Files

Discover the initial steps of creating a couple of views for a campus CAD file and a Revit file from BIM 301. Learn how to effectively create the campus view, duplicate the site plan and save your project.

Key Insights

  • The process begins by creating a view for the campus CAD file and the Revit file from BIM 301.
  • The site plan is duplicated, renamed, and saved as 'campus site plan' for easy identification later.
  • The project is then saved in the class files folder, with the 'start' removed from the file name and replaced with the user's first and last name, which will be used throughout the project.

Note: These materials offer prospective students a preview of how our classes are structured. Students enrolled in this course will receive access to the full set of materials, including video lectures, project-based assignments, and instructor feedback.

The first thing that we're going to do to get this started is we're going to create a couple of views that we'll use for our next step here. And our goal is to bring in our campus CAD file and our Revit file from BIM 301. We're going to start off by creating the campus view.

We're going to right-click on the Site Plan, select Duplicate View, then Duplicate. And then I'm going to go ahead and rename it. I'll just call this Campus Site Plan.

And we're going to go ahead and do a Save As here as well, because we're still working on that BIM 302 start file. So go to File, Save As, then Project. I'll save it in our class files folder here.

And I'll just remove "start, " add my first and last name, and hit Save. And this is the file we'll use for the rest of the project.
