Updating Intersection Design with Corridor Assemblies: A Step-by-Step Guide

Optimizing Intersection Design Using Corridor Assemblies: Customizing Roadway Components.

Learn how to update an intersection using assemblies from main corridors. This article will guide you through selecting the intersection, adjusting corridor properties, and modifying curb returns.

Key Insights

  • The article describes how to select an intersection and adjust the corridor properties using the contextual ribbon bar.
  • Changes are made to the primary and secondary roads by selecting 'dev' from the dropdown menu and clicking 'OK'.
  • The article indicates an upcoming modification for the curb return and half primary road, which will be covered in subsequent material.

In this video, we're going to go ahead and update this intersection here so that it uses some of our assemblies from our main corridors. So what I'm going to go ahead and do is select this intersection, go up to the Corridor Properties in the contextual ribbon bar, and then I'm going to go ahead and select into these areas and see what I'm dealing with here.

So I've got my two curb returns, I've got my secondary road, so I'm going to go ahead and go in here and change the assembly for that. I'm going to drop down, I'm going to go ahead and select Dev and click OK. Then I'm going to go ahead and go to this primary road.

I'm going to go ahead and go in here. I'm going to drop down and select Dev and click OK. I'm going to go here, and so this is a half primary road on this side of the roadway.

I don't want to choose a new roadway for this, so I'm going to go ahead and leave this as is for now, and we'll make this modification when we make the curb return modifications. So I'm going to go ahead and say OK and leave it, and then I'm going to go ahead and go to this other primary road that's down here. I'm going to drop down, I'm going to select Dev, I'm going to hit OK.

Now I'm going to hit Apply, and I'm going to rebuild this corridor, and when I rebuild this you're going to notice that now everything kind of matches up. So this corridor right here matches up with this corridor here, this corridor here matches up with this corridor here, and the same thing over here. Now the only issue that we have here is these curb returns here, these curb returns here, and then this other half of the road here.
