The Chelsea Market Challenge is a scavenger hunt that takes place entirely within Chelsea Market, once the headquarters of the National Biscuit Company and the birthplace of the Oreo. The market is filled with historical memorabilia, intriguing furnishings, and artwork, offering a rich environment for exploration. With numerous stores and eateries to discover, it's an ideal spot for your group’s team building activity.

Starting at the Triangle Building, a block away from Chelsea Market, teams embark on a thrilling race against time and each other:

• Locate a vintage clock in the market’s center
• Uncover historic memorabilia of the National Biscuit Company
• Identify unique fixtures and features from its days as a massive baking facility
• Participate in creative photo and video challenges
• Explore stores and eateries like Fat Witch Bakery, Bowery Kitchen Supplies, Blackbarn, and Sarabeth’s
• Learn about the companies that built the infrastructure of the National Biscuit Company

How it works: Our team creates, staffs, and fully operates the scavenger hunts. You arrive ready to compete! Our staff facilitates the entire event in-person, guiding and judging the competition. To book, simply choose a date, time, and number of participants. After confirming your booking, we’ll stay in touch to answer any questions and accommodate special requests.

Prior to the event, our staff will contact your group leader to confirm details. On the day of the hunt, we’ll be on-site to gather participants and kick off the adventure. Teams of 4 to 6 participants are formed, and we explain the rules of the hunt.

• Teams must stay together and follow bold clues
• The hunt lasts a maximum of 2 hours
• Teams decide their own route and strategy
• Several photo/video challenges must be completed for points
• The team with the most points wins, with order of arrival breaking ties
• Pay attention to the phrase puzzle – it’s crucial for winning!

Each team receives clues, a clipboard, and a pen. The race begins as teams read, discuss, and plan their strategy. It’s an excellent team building exercise as participants work together to find answers. Our staff is available to provide hints and handle any issues.

Teams search throughout the market for answers, exploring fixtures, items, and elements that reveal the essence of New York City. Don’t linger too long on any clue – aim for the highest score and a timely finish!

At the hunt’s end, teams reconvene at a designated location. We tally scores and announce the winners, who earn bragging rights and any prizes you choose to award. We can also text the results if needed.
