In this certificate program, participants will learn the skills needed to become a front-end web developer. Students will learn to build webpages with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Students will also learn developer tools such as Git to collaborate with developers in addition to learning modern web technologies such as Flexbox, Grid, and Bootstrap to efficiently create responsive websites. This 48-week Front-end Web Development program was designed to teach students the skills they need to launch careers in the fields of computer science, software engineering, and front-end web development. This program is split into four trimesters and covers a wide range of computer science and front-end web development tools and concepts. The first three trimesters focus on computer science and software engineering, with a focus on Linux, data structures, algorithms, various programming languages, databases, and more. The final trimester is focused on front-end web development, and takes a deep dive into HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and developer tools, as well as how to best apply these technologies to React, an industry standard front-end framework. Throughout the program, students will also learn important soft skills to enhance their job readiness, with an emphasis around technical writing, collaboration, whiteboarding, as well as the opportunity to participate in mock interviews.

In this 12-hour class, students will explore modern web page layout techniques using CSS Flexbox and CSS Grid to create responsive layouts that look phenomenal on screens of all sizes. Students will discover how the newest CSS technologies alter the layout of modern webpages and offer unparalleled flexibility compared to traditional techniques. Attendees learn how to rapidly build pages using Bootstrap: the world’s most popular front-end framework with its responsive grid and prebuilt components. In this 18-hour class, participants will learn how to code webpages using HTML and CSS. Participants will learn how to mark up content (headings, paragraphs, lists, links, etc), style the appearance, and upload the web pages using FTP to take the site live. Attendees do not need any prior coding experience and will learn valuable skills they can use to start building or editing web pages right away. This is the perfect course to launch a career in web development or to learn how to create or edit web pages. The class includes a free retake and a step-by-step workbook.

In this 18-hour class, students will take webpages to the next level by adding interactivity, animation, and logic with JavaScript and jQuery (the most popular JavaScript library that lets you do more with less code). Attendees will start with the fundamentals of JavaScript, learning variables, loops, arrays, functions, and how to apply them to elements in a webpage. Students then learn how the jQuery library can improve functionality, and how to use the many built-in jQuery plugins to add common features (such as slideshows, animated image enlargers, etc.) without having to manually build them from scratch.
