What Classes Are Available?

UC San Diego Extension Bootcamps offers a coding bootcamp, cybersecurity bootcamp, and a data science and visualization bootcamp. Full-time and part-time classes are available who want to develop their skills and advance new or existing courses. All courses are taught by experienced instructors, and students gain additional support from teaching assistants and program support professionals.

The coding bootcamp offers full stack (front end and back end) web development, coding, and technology and programs relevant to web developers. Some of the concepts covered include HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS3, web apps, agile methodology, computer science, and database theory. The coding bootcamp is offered quarterly with part-time (24 weeks) and full-time (12 weeks) study options.

The data science and visualization bootcamp is a part-time training opportunity that prepares students to work with and apply data to solve complex problems. The course incorporates an innovative curriculum with hands-on learning and group projects. This bootcamp covers Excel, statistics, programming with Python, databases, front end web visualization, Tableau for business intelligence technology, and advanced topics like R programming and machine learning.

The cybersecurity bootcamp is a 24-week training course that provides hands-on training in networking, systems, the fundamentals of cybersecurity, hacking, programming and scripting, and career options. Some of the technologies introduced in the course include cloud security, Wireshark, Kali Linux, Metasploit, Hashcat, and Burp Suite.

Class Formats

UC San Diego Extension Bootcamps provides interactive instruction in a virtual setting. All work can be done through a computer or laptop. All required materials are provided, which eliminates textbook requirements. Throughout classes, students participate in real-time discussions, lab exercises, and portfolio projects for a comprehensive learning experience. The bootcamps also offer a low student-teacher ratio.

Admissions Process

UC San Diego has an admissions process and does not offer open enrollment. Prospective students can initiate the application process by requesting an initial interview with an admissions advisor. Students who are recommended beyond the initial interview are invited to participate in a critical thinking and problem-solving assessment for further consideration. No prior knowledge is required for admissions; as such the school provides students with pre-course materials before the start of class to prepare students for the curriculum.

Pricing & Payment Options

Tuition at UC San Diego ranges from $11,4995 to $12,995 (subject to change). The university offers $500 scholarships to eligible UC San Diego alumni as well as payment plans and early registration pricing.

UC San Diego Extension Bootcamps students gain access to a myriad of career services, which include assistance with interview preparation, developing LinkedIn profiles, Git Hub, resume, and portfolio assistance, and job searching. The various services are provided through a dedicated Profile Coach Team and a Career Director.
