Run by the Hawaiian branch of Asia Pacific International School, World Scholars Academy offers in-person students the opportunity to participate in advanced academic courses in a traditional summer camp setting. Mornings are dedicated to academic study, and afternoons are dedicated to field trips and activities. World Scholars Academy is an elite summer camp offering rigorous academic courses taught by world-leading professional scholars from top universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge, Stanford, London School of Economics, and Wharton School of Business. Students can enroll in their summer live online courses or attend their 2-week residential summer camp on the northern shore of O’ahu, Hawaii.

Their programs are designed to introduce students to what it is like to pursue a career in medicine, law, business, engineering, mathematics, and computer science. World Scholars Academy’s courses provide the academic foundations for future success in these fields.

School Locations

The campus of World Scholars Academy is located on the beautiful north shore of O’ahu, Hawaii. And, students who attend their residential camp get the full Hawaiian experience.

Students who attend the residential camp enjoy rigorous academic lessons and exciting Hawaiian cultural experiences, including surfing lessons, coral reef snorkeling, ukulele lessons, beach games, bonfires with smores, rainforest hiking, movie nights, and day trips to other Hawaiian islands, Waikiki and Kailua.

World Scholars Academy also offers some of its courses live online. These courses represent condensed versions of the curriculum used in their residential camp. Students participate in two weeks of 10 live online classes. They also complete daily assignments and receive take-home resources to continue their studies.

Subjects Taught at World Scholars Academy

World Scholars Academy offers courses in business, medicine, law, engineering, computer science, math, leadership and international relations, career exploration, and the English language. These courses are designed to prepare students interested in pursuing any of these fields as a future career. Students can see what it would be like to be a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer.

Their World Coder’s Academy is a residential and online camp experience for 15-18-year-olds taught by a world-leading software engineer. Campers will learn computer science foundations, coding languages, digital marketing, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

Age Requirements

World Scholars Academy offers foundational academic courses in mathematics, medicine, law, engineering, business, computer science, career exploration, and the English language. Their classes are geared toward either 12-14-year-olds or 15-18-year-olds.

Mathematics is only offered for 15-18-year-olds. All other courses are offered for both age groups.

What Classes Are Available?

Except for World Mathematics Academy, each of World Scholars Academy’s courses is offered either for 12-14-year-olds or 15-18-year-olds. Each class is also designed to provide foundational knowledge in that discipline.

In World Doctors Academy (15-18) or Discover Medicine Academy (12-14), students are introduced to concepts in medicine, including human anatomy, pathology, biochemistry and pharmacology, and neuroscience. Students will also build clinical skills and conclude their course with a Mock Hospital Challenge in which they practice medical diagnostics. This course is available online or on their Hawaii campus.

Students interested in pursuing a career as a lawyer might choose World Lawyers Academy (15-18) or Discover Law Academy (12-14). Students will get a two-week preview of the academics required to attend law school and join the legal profession. Topics include environmental law, judicial systems around the world, contract law, corporate law, and the principles of jurisprudence. Students will also develop practical skills such as evidence evaluation, argumentation, and public speaking via the camp’s mock trial.

World Scholars Academy’s newest course is Leadership and International Relations Academy. This online-only course is offered for 15-18-year-olds and taught by a world-leading expert in leadership, politics, and international law. Topics include navigating global crises like COVID-19, political change and revolution, philosophy of liberal government, history of wars and crises, and economic and political power. Students will also hone their debate and public speaking skills through the camp’s Model United Nations Security Council.

World Scholars Academy offers courses live online and on their campus in Hawaii.

Some courses, such as World Coders Academy, Leadership and International Relations, and Career Exploration are offered only online. Discover English Academy (12-14) and World English Academy (15-18), an immersive English as a Second Language camp for advanced speakers, is only offered in-person at the Hawaii campus.
