What Classes Are Available?

For individuals looking to learn how to code, The Tech Academy offers several bootcamps across multiple specialties related to tech, engineering, and development. Their most comprehensive course is the Software Development Bootcamp, which teaches both front and back end coding languages to ensure versatility in the job market. It offers close to 900 hours of training, which includes two Live Projects designed to provide real experience with coding which can ultimately be added to your portfolio or resume.

Another option for individuals is to complete self-paced courses through a subscription service. This includes video lessons, assignments, quizzes, and articles all tailored to the subject of the course. Your subscription would grant you access to the company’s full library of self-paced classes in subjects like data science, cybersecurity, coding, and computer science, among others. Class Formats

The Tech Academy’s bootcamps are available in a full-time format that goes for 10 to 22 weeks, depending on the topic. For students with other work or family commitments, identical bootcamps are available on a part-time basis; these generally last about double the duration of the full-time course. For example, the 22-week full-time Software Development Bootcamp would take 40 weeks to complete in a part-time setting. The content is the same across both formats, but the price increases slightly for full-time bootcamps as you are paying for prolonged access to instructors and course content.

These bootcamps are available in-person at The Tech Academy’s Oregon or Utah campuses or live online from anywhere. The online format is also available for the academy’s on-demand offering, the self-paced subscription model detailed above.

Admissions Process

To join one of The Tech Academy’s bootcamps, you’ll need to fill out a request for information on their contact form. You’ll need to select your location (or indicate that you are interested in learning remotely), then write a message regarding which course(s) you are interested in. From there, someone from the admissions team will reach out to discuss any further requirements, if necessary, and get you enrolled in the bootcamp if you’ve decided it is the right fit.

Pricing & Payment Options

Most of The Tech Academy’s bootcamps cost between $10,000 and $14,000, depending on the subject and duration. For those interested in financing options, there is an ISA (Income Share Agreement) that allows students of certain bootcamps to defer payment until they are fully employed with a set minimum salary. Other options include credit cards, personal loans, external financing, or student lending companies like Climb Credit.

In addition to these financing options, The Tech Academy has a referral program as well. For every person you recommend that ends up taking the course, you’ll get a 5% commission from their tuition.

Career Support Services

Each of The Tech Academy’s bootcamps culminates in a final course that is specific to helping students search for and find jobs. The Job Placement Course covers several important topics like interview etiquette, resume writing, and searching for tech jobs, among others. This is not the only resource for students, though—there are also staff members dedicated to job placement who can help students find their dream role.

The Tech Academy has separate Outcomes Reports for their online program, Portland location, and Salt Lake City location. These reports, which cover the second half of 2020, show that more than half (and up to 64%) of graduates across all programs land a job in their field within 6 months of completing their bootcamp. Over 30% of graduates from the online and Portland bootcamps earn $80,000 or more per year in that first job, with a median of $50,000 to $60,000. The Salt Lake City numbers are slightly lower, but they also had fewer students graduate during 2020.
