LearningFuze has made its mark in Southern California. Founded by Bill Cunningham and Fabian Toth in 2014, LearningFuze brought the coding bootcamp boom to Orange County, California. Today, the school offers a range of courses in web development, data science, and UX design. While LearningFuze has expanded into the online learning sector, the school remains committed not only to its Irvine campus but also to its burgeoning local tech community.

In addition to hosting its coding bootcamps, LearningFuze partners with community organizations to offer events to stimulate interest in coding. The school even runs an affordable web development consulting service for small businesses, helping its students gain experience while connecting with their community.

LearningFuze operates out of its campus in Irvine, California, and offers information sessions in both Irvine and San Diego. Most of its courses are also offered partially or entirely live online on Pacific time.

Subjects Taught at LearningFuze

LearningFuze offers courses in three main areas. Students can learn web development, data science, and UI/UX design. With Noble Desktop’s Classes Near Me tool, prospective students can search for UX/UI design and data science classes, as well as web development bootcamps, in their area and compare available learning opportunities.

What Classes Are Available?

LearningFuze’s full stack web development courses include instruction on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery, along with databases, data structures, and algorithms. In the data science curriculum, students learn Python, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The UI/UX design course covers information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, interaction design, and branding. LearningFuze offers short prep courses for both web development and data science. These are available to all students but are required components of the full web development and data science curriculum, respectively.

Class Formats

LearningFuze offers all of its courses in-person or live online, except for the UI/UX course. Even in this case, the school makes accommodations for occasional remote participation. Only the full web development course is available as a full-time, 14-week bootcamp. The other courses are offered on a part-time basis only. The full part-time web development, data science, and UX/UI courses use a modular approach to the curriculum, allowing students who are working or who have other commitments to participate for shorter periods and pay as they go. Students in all of the full courses will produce a portfolio of work to use as a demonstration of their new skills on the job market. Even the prep courses include a final project as part of the curriculum. LearningFuze aims to keep their ratio of students to teachers low, around 6:1, and provide dedicated office hours for students to meet with their instructors 1-on-1.

Admissions Process

Admissions at LearningFuze is a three-step process. Prospective students complete a short online application and meet with an admissions counselor to discuss their background and goals. Finally, prospective students take a technical assessment to ensure that they are prepared for the challenges of the course.

Pricing & Payment Options

The base tuition for the full-time in-person or online web development bootcamp is $14,995. LearningFuze offers a range of discounts and scholarships to bring that cost down, as well as financing and deferred payment options to lower upfront costs. Attending an information session earns students a tuition waiver for the prep course, as does registering for the full-time course. Because they use a modular approach, the part-time courses operate on a pay-as-you-go model. The cost of a single module ranges from $3,995 to $5,995.

Career Support Services

All full courses at LearningFuze include a major career readiness component, including the preparation of a portfolio of work. Moreover, the curriculum and in-person settings are designed to closely resemble real-world coding environments, readying students for careers as professionals. Graduates report that the school’s career services staff make a significant investment in students’ job skills, from polishing resumes and delivering mock interviews to coaching students through the nuances of networking with tech professionals. Students also have opportunities to interface with LearningFuze’s employer network as well as alumni from previous cohorts. In addition, students can participate in continuing education through LearningFuze’s other programs after graduation for reduced or no cost (depending on the program).

LearningFuze advertises a 95% job-placement rate of graduates from their programs. Their alumni now work at over 400 companies, including giants like American Express Travel, Intuit, Nike, and Verizon.

Graduates of LearningFuze enthusiastically recall their training in the school’s programs. Students speak highly of the instructors and career coaches, with one graduate noting, “Every single staff member is there to help you, support you, and push you to grow!” Because the LearningFuze curriculum and pedagogy intentionally resemble real-life work environments, that push for growth is an essential part of the learning experience. The workload is intense, and some class assignments are designated as “challenges.”

One graduate describes these assessments, saying that for these activities “there is no Q&A and or instructions,” though instructors “do have tips from time to time if you need them.” The hands-off approach challenges students to “use the knowledge from the exercises you’ve done and put them to use.” This can be tricky for some students, but for those who are willing to put in the work, the training can pay off.
