La Capsule was voted “Best Coding Boot Camp in France” in 2021. La Capsule Academy brings an American-style coding bootcamp to Francophone Europe. Marlene Antoinat and Noel Paganelli founded the school in 2016, establishing the first campus in Lyons before expanding to Paris and then internationally. What Classes Are Available?

La Capsule Academy offers students three courses: Full Stack Web, Mobile Development and Code for Business, and DevOps Engineering. Full Stack Web and Mobile Development students learn to use JavaScript for both front and back end web development, gaining experience with HTML and CSS as well as the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js). Students code both websites and mobile apps, learning the fundamentals of UX/UI design, and practice agile project management in group projects.

Code for Business students learn full stack web development targeted especially for the needs of commercial enterprises. Using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and NoSQL, students gain experience with APIs and databases to manage ecommerce sites, business analytics, and computer automation.

In the DevOps Engineering course, students start by learning scripting (in the computer terminal), basic Python, and computer networking principles. From there, they learn skills for setting up a collaborative environment for developers using Git and a project management tool, as well as SonarQube for quality testing of code. This all the forms the basis of a Continuous Integration (CI) and Continous Deployment (CD) model. After that, students build fundamental skills in cloud infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.

Class Formats

Full Stack Web and Mobile Development and DevOps Engineering are full-time intensive bootcamps, running for 10 and nine weeks respectively, while Code for Business can be taken as a full-time 12-day course or a part-time 10-week course. Full-time courses run on weekdays, 9-6pm with frequent additional evening activities. Part-time courses run Tuesday and Thursday evenings and during the day on alternating Saturdays. Students can study in-person at any of the La Capsule Academy locations or hybrid between in-person and online, with accommodations available for students who need to study fully remotely. Classes are capped at 35 students, and La Capsule Academy emphasizes a holistic approach to learning, focusing on helping students to develop both the technical skills and the creativity for innovative coding solutions. Courses are project-based, and graduates will have developed several complete projects to include in their portfolios by their course’s end. After the course, students can continue developing their skills with additional skills building through instructor-led masterclass instruction. Classes at La Capsule Academy are taught in French.

Admissions Process

The admissions process at La Capsule Academy starts with an online application and a preliminary interview. Applicants must then pass a logic assessment and participate in another more in-depth interview with the admissions team.

Pricing & Payment Options

Tuition for the Full Stack Web and Mobile Development course costs 6000-7000€, depending on location, while tuition for both the full-time and part-time Code for Business courses costs 4000€. Qualifying Full Stack Web and Mobile Development students are eligible for French CPF and OPCO financial aid. La Capsule Academy assists students by creating custom payment schedules according to their needs.

La Capsule Academy students participate in a range of career development activities, including career workshops and interview preparation, and the projects that students create throughout their course help to develop students’ professional portfolios. As of 2022, the median time it took students to find work after graduation (including freelancing assignments and self-employment by way of starting a business) was 30 days. 95% of alumni were reported to be active as employees, freelancers, or entrepreneurs.
