What Classes Are Available?

Whether taking a full-time immersive or attending at a part-time rate, students of all levels (even those without a background in tech!) will get real-world practice and learn the valuable skills to jumpstart a career in technology. Ironhack prides itself on making its outcomes-driven courses available to students with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. Instructors and Career Coaches work with every student before, during, and after their bootcamp to ensure it meets their needs. Each intensive bootcamp is broken into four sections: prework, and Modules 1, 2, and 3. Although each bootcamp has the same framework, the modules may be longer or shorter depending on the course. At the end of each module, students complete a real-world project using concepts, skills, and techniques they learned in that portion of the program and present their work to their cohort.

One of Ironhack’s most popular programs is the comprehensive web development bootcamp that teaches the hands-on skills needed to become a full stack developer. The bootcamp begins with 50 hours of prework in foundational tech skills like HTML and CSS. Though the main focus of the web development bootcamp is JavaScript, in Module 1 students will also learn version control, DOM manipulation, responsive web design using Flexbox and Bootstrap, and core concepts of object-oriented programming. Module 2 centers on the back end, and students will dive deep into MongoDB, ExpressJS, and NodeJS. In the final module, students will tackle ReactJS for the front end. This bootcamp’s final project involves applying all the new knowledge acquired during the course and creating an original single-page app (SPA).

The UX/UI design bootcampat Ironhack is the first step in a path to a fulfilling career and is perfect for those passionate about design, websites, creativity, apps, communication, and the digital environment. In the prework for this course, students will spend 40 hours getting up to speed on current design software, terminology, design thinking, as well as the basics of CSS and HTML. Once students have completed the prework, they’ll be ready to take on the rest of the bootcamp, beginning with the fundamentals of user experience (UX) design in Module 1. This unit covers interaction design principles, information architectures, research methods, and more. Module 2 takes on another important element of design: user interface (UI). Students will learn foundational design and branding concepts and how to anticipate users’ needs and wants throughout the design process. In Module 3, participants will turn theory into practice and implement these new UX and UI skills by building a responsive one-page website, as well as hone soft skills necessary for the industry, like collaboration and communication. Projects in this bootcamp include designing an app using agile methodologies; creating a modern, refined website; and developing a digital product to solve a problem.

Ironhack also offers a data analytics bootcampdesigned to launch even beginners with no previous tech knowledge into a career in this fast-growing field. The 60 hours of prework for this program drill down on critical basics of statistics and programming with material centered on statistical analysis, Git, Python, and MySQL. Module 1 starts with an introduction to APIS, data wrangling and cleaning, and web scraping, and tools like Tableau. Module 2 is an in-depth unit on advanced data analytics, focusing on probability and statistics, and Module 3 introduces students to machine learning fundamentals. Data analytics bootcamp attendees’ projects include creating an entirely new dataset; performing a complete analysis of real data sets that students will have processed, cleaned, and visualized; and building an end-to-end machine learning project.

Those ready to join the ranks of the ever-expanding cybersecurity industry can look into Ironhack’s cybersecurity bootcamp, powered by Cybint. Although this Ironhack bootcamp is not yet offered for remote learners, it’s available to take in-person in Sao Paulo, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Mexico City, Berlin, Madrid, and Lisbon. This rigorous program’s prework involves 20 hours of remote study to get attendees up to speed on operating systems, computer systems, and networks. Module 1 offers an introduction to cybersecurity, Module 2 centers on security and threats, and Module 3 delves into hands-on projects to further your portfolio and career opportunities. Throughout the entire bootcamp, students will be working on real-world cybersecurity scenarios and will be starting to implement the tools learned throughout the 12-week program. After finishing the bootcamp, participants will be ready to join the cybersecurity workforce and flex their skills in privacy principles, risk and security management processes and security models, and even advise on disaster recoveries.

Class Formats

Whether you’re looking to change careers beginning by jumping into a bootcamp, or you want to upskill a current job or learn something new on the side, there’s likely a class at Ironhack that works for your schedule. Each of Ironhack’s bootcamps is available in two formats: full-time and part-time. Both the full-time and part-time options, whether live online or in-person typically have around 20 students per class. Each bootcamp has one lead teacher and one teacher assistant for every 10 students.

The full-time option is a demanding, immersive, 9-12 week experience. Ideal for those who are looking to change careers, these programs require complete dedication. Classes are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, and students can expect plenty of daily exercises and real-world projects to keep them busy outside of the classroom. Upon completion of a full-time bootcamp, participants will be ready to enter the workforce immediately as a Junior Data Analyst, Web Developer, or UX/UI Designer.

Ironhack’s 24-week, part-time programs are ideal for those who are currently working, in school, have other obligations, or aren’t quite ready to commit to the rigorous schedule a full-time bootcamp demands. Those taking the part-time option will have classes two evenings a week with one full weekend day of classes. In addition to the classroom study, students can expect 10-15 hours of homework each week. Since much of the work in the part-time program is completed independently, this option requires students to be self-motivated, organized, and deadline-focused.

The full-time and part-time bootcamps both require approximately 20-100 hours of prework before starting and have the same content, structure, and methodology—the only difference is the amount of time it takes to complete the classwork. Students in both tracks will complete three modules per bootcamp and have access to Ironhack’s online resources including remote education tools and virtual support. At the end of each full-time bootcamp, Ironhack hosts The Hackshow, a graduation event where students with the best final projects of each of the three modules present to the group.

Regardless of which program you select, once you finish you’ll join the ranks as a newly minted “#Ironhacker,” the term the school uses to identify the global community of alumni, teachers, and mentors.

Admissions Process

Ironhack encourages anyone interested in a tech career to apply—regardless of age, skill level, ethnicity, education, or technology background. Ironhack is committed to inclusivity and welcomes all applicants who are ready to help others, willing to learn, and able to put in the work. Ironhack has a three-step admissions process. First, submit an online written application form.

The second step is a 30-minute in-person or online personal interview with the Admissions Manager at your chosen campus location. This interview offers you a chance to ask any questions, as well as for Ironhack to get to know you, understand your motivations, and determine if you’ll be a good fit for the program.

The third and final step is an hour-long online technical assessment to gauge the applicant’s logical skills and ability to grasp course concepts. This part of the interview process is evaluating your abilities, not previous knowledge or skills. Ironhack is interested in your potential and wants to get a sense of what you will do and how you will fit into the program, not what you’ve already done. After Ironhack evaluates the test results, the Admissions Committee will inform prospective students about their admission to the program. If you’ve been admitted, you’ll receive the Student Agreement and the Acceptance Letter and move forward with reserving your spot in your selected program.

While some applicants may have more tech skills and experience than others, Ironhack’s curriculum is designed for those at varying starting points. Some students may move more quickly while others need more personalized attention. Ironhack’s prework program helps ensure that the bootcamp cohort is beginning at roughly the same level with similar necessary foundational knowledge.

Pricing & Payment Options

Because Ironhack is a global school, prices for in-person instruction vary depending on the country, and each campus offers different payment options. All Ironhack’s full-time remote bootcamps cost $12,500 while the part-time courses are $13,000. Each campus has a different reservation fee, so check with your chosen campus to determine the right amount. Regardless of location, the reservation fee is due three days after being accepted for admission, and when paying upfront, the program’s total fee should be paid in full 20 days before the program starts.

To accommodate as many students’ needs as possible, and depending on location, Ironhack offers a wide range of financing options such as deferred payments, loans, income share, or payment by monthly installments. Qualifying students from the United States taking classes online can get a loan for their tuition and living expenses through Skills Fund or look into an interest-free loan from Climb Credit.

Ironhack supports diversity in technology and provides a 10% discount for women in the Web Development & Data Analytics bootcamp and veterans in all bootcamps. While there are no other general discounts available from Ironhack, other organizations who want to encourage tech education sometimes partner with Ironhack to provide scholarships.

Career Support Services

Ironhack has a Careers Services department committed to helping students before, during, and after their bootcamps. Before beginning a bootcamp, participants will go through a process Ironhack calls “Discovery.” Students will perform a series of exercises and work with a Career Coach to help determine their goals, motivation, skill set, and how to reach that dream job. During Discovery, individuals work on their Personal Branding Canvas which helps determine and design their personal brand. Once the bootcamp begins, participants move into “Digital Foundations,” and focus on networking, building their profiles, and zoning in on where they want to end up after completing the bootcamp. This stage aims to propel students into the digital market.

The next stage centers on job hunting. This is a week-long warmup for your job search that includes mock interviews, drills, webinars, challenges, and workshops. This week is a chance for participants to drill down on their skills, polish their resumes and portfolios, and get ready for the final stage: the Sprint.

Once the bootcamp and the warmup are complete, it’s time to start the job hunt in earnest. During this stage, Ironhack works to connect graduates with hiring partners and link compatible students and companies. Ironhack is invested in their graduates’ success and works to make inspired matches for future professional success.

Ironhack works with PwC, a well-known external accounting firm, to audit its alumni outcome findings before sharing them with the public. With an 89% placement rate in 2019, Ironhack’s Career Services system is clearly working.
