What Classes Are Available?

Flatiron School offers a comprehensive software engineering bootcamp that teaches everything needed to jumpstart a full stack career in the field. The course covers front end development fundamentals, languages like JavaScript and ReactJS, important Ruby frameworks for front end web applications, and crucial skills for back end development like SQL and object-oriented programming. By the end of this comprehensive program, students will collaborate with peers to create projects, including building an original app.

The cybersecurity engineering bootcamp at Flatiron School is specially designed to teach the strategic, analytical, and technical skills necessary to propel students into the ever-expanding and critical cybersecurity industry. Units in each class focus on network security, system security, Python scripting and applications in cybersecurity, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), logs and detection, threat intelligence, application security, and applied cryptology. All of Flatiron School’s bootcamps are available to take full-time or as a flex program. Flatiron provides choices that allow students to set their own pace, even for those with the busiest schedules.

The full-time option is an immersive, 12-15 week experience. When enrolled in a full-time program, students will work on real-world projects independently as well as collaborate with their peers. Participants spend a structured 9 hours a day in class (including lunch and breaks) and attend live lectures. Full-time learning is a great choice for those ready to throw themselves into learning and who want to get results as fast as possible.

Those who desire a more flexible schedule can take the classes over 20, 40, or 60 weeks. While the curriculum is the same as the full-time programs, students can approach it at a pace that works best for them. This flexibility works well for those who are working full-time, in school, or parents who can benefit from taking a class at their own speed. At any point, students can change the pace of their program. Those enrolled in Flatiron’s flexible classes will study on their own, along with having the chance to enroll in optional study groups. Students taking a flex program also have access to one-on-one sessions with an expert instructor.

Both the full-time and flex programs have full online access and access to the Flatiron School campus in their area depending on location. Flatiron’s campuses are places where students can take in-person classes, take advantage of resources, network, and create a sense of community with their peers by being with other students face-to-face.

Admissions Process

Flatiron School has a four-step admissions process that starts with applying. On the application, you’ll share some information about yourself and your goals.

Next, you’ll have a 20-30 minute virtual interview with a Flatiron School admission representative who will talk with you, get to know you a little better, and answer any questions you may have about Flatiron. This conversation helps determine which program and pace might work best for you.

The third step in the admissions process is a 15-minute critical thinking and problem-solving assessment. Rather than quizzing you on what you already know, think of the assessment as a way to determine your ability to think critically, solve problems, synthesize new information, and pay attention to detail—all skills necessary for Flatiron’s programs and the tech jobs you’ll get upon completing the bootcamp. About four business days after the admissions assessment, you’ll receive a decision from Admissions.

Finally, once accepted, students can begin preparing for the first day of class, including doing pre-work for a bootcamp and/or taking one of Flatiron’s free introductory workshops.

The whole admissions process typically takes about six weeks from application to enrollment.

Pricing & Payment Options

Flatiron School offers a few different payment options. Each of Flatiron’s intensive bootcamps costs $16,900. Students can pay upfront, which means making an initial deposit of $500 to save their spot in the bootcamp, and then paying the remainder in full before class starts.

Another option is to pay for a bootcamp using a loan with interest. After making the initial deposit, qualified students can pay for courses in monthly installments for 36 or 42 months.

Students enrolled in any of the flex programs have a third option: once they’ve paid the $500 deposit upfront, they can pay the rest of their tuition balance in 12 monthly interest-free payments.

Flatiron School is committed to inclusivity and diversity initiatives and provides no-cost fellowships as well as partial scholarships for qualified students. According to Course Report, Flatiron “has awarded over $10 million in scholarships for women, minorities, veterans, and other underrepresented groups in tech.”

Career Support Services

Flatiron School has a dedicated Career Coaching team to help students with their job search. These coaches assist students with figuring out a career path and guide them toward a dream job. Throughout the entire process, students will have access to weekly one-on-one meetings with a Career Coach who can help with polishing their resume, interview prep, and answer any questions.
