Aperture Academy

This natural light portrait photography course teaches key skills such as how to design a portrait set, identify light sources, use the available natural light to your advantage, and change the aperture, ISO, and shutter speed to shape the image. Participants will have the opportunity to practice hands-on techniques during this practical workshop.

This on-location photography class in the San Francisco-Marin Headlands area provides participants with the opportunity to develop their skills and learn from experienced instructors. Participants will gain practical knowledge in setting up camera exposure, composition creation, and much more as they explore the area’s stunning landscape. Equipment is not included, but participants will have the chance to use the instructor’s equipment and gain clear feedback on their creative projects.

This course provides an opportunity for photography enthusiasts to sharpen their skills through a unique setting at the San Francisco Zoo. Participants will learn techniques for capturing wildlife in motion, understanding optimal camera settings for various environments, and utilizing natural lighting to their advantage. With expert guidance, attendees will enhance their photographic storytelling abilities, focusing on composition and pertinent technical skills.

This course offers participants an opportunity to explore and capture the beauty of San Francisco at night. Students will learn the fundamentals of night photography, improve their composition and exposure skills, and get hands-on assistance in creating artistic low-light images. It is designed to enhance creativity and competence among both beginners and intermediate photographers.
