#### Tableau: Your All-Purpose Data Visualization Tool

Well-known as the industry standard for creating all kinds of charts, Tableau is a fully featured software that allows you to create complex data visualizations: colorful representations of data that are informative and aesthetically pleasing. With Tableau, it's easy to customize your visualizations and collect them into a story or dashboard.

#### Make Charts, Graphs, & More

This beginner-friendly course will introduce you to Tableau Public, a free version of Tableau with various tools for creating dynamic data visualizations. You'll get hands-on right away! Once you learn how to connect to datasets, you'll start creating and editing charts, graphs, and other useful data visualizations.

## What you'll learn

- Understand the types, formats, and sources of data, and how to connect them to Tableau
- Create foundational visualizations such as bar charts, line graphs, and treemaps using the “Show Me” panel
- Use built-in functions and custom calculations to analyze and manipulate your data within visualizations
- Clean and organize raw data using tools like the Data Interpreter, pivot features, and filters
- Build interactive dashboards and stories that combine multiple views for dynamic storytelling
- Format and publish your visualizations to Tableau Online or export them for sharing and presentation

## Instructors

### Jerron Smith — Program Director & Senior Instructor

Jerron has more than 25 years of experience working with graphics and video and expert-level certifications in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator along with an extensive knowledge of other animation programs like Cinema 4D, Adobe Animate, and 3DS Max. 

He has authored multiple books and video training series on computer graphics software such as: After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash (back when it was a thing).

He has taught at the college level for over 20 years at schools such as NYCCT (New York City College of Technology),  NYIT (The New York Institute of Technology), and FIT (The Fashion Institute of Technology).

### Garfield Stinvil — Senior Instructor

Garfield is an experienced software trainer with over 16 years of real-world professional experience. He started as a data analyst with a Wall Street real estate investment company & continued working in the professional development department at New York Road Runners Organization before working at Noble. He enjoys bringing humor to whatever he teaches and loves conveying ideas in novel ways that help others learn more efficiently.

Since starting his professional training career in 2016, he has worked with several corporate clients including Adobe, HBO, Amazon, Yelp, Mitsubishi, WeWork, Michael Kors, Christian Dior, and Hermès. 

Outside of work, his hobbies include rescuing & archiving at-risk artistic online media using his database management skills.
