# 3D Modeling in AutoCAD (Self-Paced)

Canonical URL: <https://www.nobledesktop.com/classes/3d-modeling-in-autocad-self-paced>

## Overview

AutoCAD is a powerful tool that lets you create detailed 3D models of objects and designs. With AutoCAD, you can build complex 3D shapes and layer in intricate details using a wide range of tools and features. You can also manipulate 3D models by rotating, scaling, or moving individual parts, along with adding colors, textures, and lighting effects.

In this course, you'll learn best practices in 3D modeling and expand on your knowledge of the AutoCAD interface to produce advanced 3D models. It's designed for students who already feel confident with the commands for 2D drawings in AutoCAD.

## What you'll learn

- Create simple solids and surfaces by extruding, revolving, and lofting 2D objects into 3D forms
- Modify and edit objects in 3D space using tools like rotate and mirror
- Navigate and refine 3D views through visual styles, orbit tools, and viewport configurations
- Work with point clouds to reference and model from real world scan data
- Render and visualize 3D models with materials, lighting, and camera settings for polished, professional presentations

## Prerequisites

Participants should be proficient in using commands for 2D drawings in AutoCAD, with knowledge equivalent to the [AutoCAD Bootcamp](/classes/autocad-bootcamp).
