This course starts with the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for web development, moving forward to specific topics such as developing web servers using Node.js and RDBMS with SQLite and PostgreSQL. Technical subjects taught include HTML, CSS, Git, JavaScript, React, Redux, React Router, HTTP/Ajax, and state management. Students learn back end specific instruction on Node.js, web APIs, data persistence, authentication, and testing. Computer science essentials are learned, including an introduction to Python and OOP, algorithms, data structures, graphs, and hash tables.

This course has five sections that cover analyzing data, building systems and predictions, and communicating insights. The first half of the course includes instruction in Statistics Fundamentals, like data wrangling and linear algebra, Predictive Modeling like linear models and data visualization, and Data Engineering with SQL, productization, and cloud. The second half teaches Machine Learning with natural language processing and neural network foundations, and Computer Science, with Python and OOP, algorithms, data structures, graphs, and hash tables.

This comprehensive back end course includes instruction in using Java to write and test functional requirements, debug, encapsulate, and work with primitive wrapper classes, as well as designing with Java, including inheritance, polymorphism, mocking, and statics, as just a few examples. Students also learn how to work with databases, such as HTTP and RESTful services, DynamoDB, creating exceptions, dependency injection, Big O, integration test, scrum, and much more, including scalability.
