What Classes Are Available?

Concordia Bootcamps offers two diplomas: a Data Science Diploma and a Web Development Diploma. Both of these courses are offered on a full-time and part-time schedule. The full-time program is 12 weeks long. The part-time program is 30 weeks and meets two nights per week in addition to every Saturday.

The data science program breaks down into seven modules. The first few help lay down the foundation knowledge that students need, such as Python programming and statistical analysis. The final two modules are a team project and a final solo project. These first several weeks of creating websites, backend programming with NodeJS, and frontend manipulation with React and Redux prepares students to be able to create full stack web applications. From there, students work on a team project to improve their ability to work with others. Web development is a collaborative profession, and graduates must be prepared to synthesize their code with others. The capstone project of the web development program requires students to build a functional web application from the ground up.

Class Formats

Classes at Concordia Bootcamps are taught in-person and remotely. The remote courses are live online with individual support from coaches available if needed. Students use Zoom and Slack to connect with instructors and each other.

Most cohorts have a 10:1 student/teacher ratio and classes are typically limited to around 30 students. Courses are taught in English, so students must be fluent to be successful. Students must also provide a laptop that meets certain specifications.

Admissions Process

Applying for a Concordia bootcamp takes only two steps. The first is to submit an online application. The admissions team recommends that you provide as much detail as possible in your application so that the reviewers understand how motivated you are to attend. After your application is reviewed, you will participate in an interview to tell the school more about yourself and so you can be sure that Concordia’s offerings match your expectations. Within a few days of your interview, you will be notified of the school’s decision.

Concordia prefers that students join the bootcamp with at least entry-level knowledge. If your interview indicates that you might not have enough experience, you will be given an additional coding challenge to complete on your own time and your admission will be based on your success in this challenge. Participants must be 18 or older to attend these bootcamps. You can be 17 when completing the application process as long as you turn 18 by the time classes begin.

Pricing & Payment Options

The cost of both bootcamps at Concordia is $11,495. There are no outside fees for textbooks or software. Students can pay the tuition in bulk or installments of an initial $2,199 deposit, $4,398 due two weeks before the first day of class, and the remaining $4,398 due halfway through the program. There is no additional cost for international students.

Concordia Bootcamps are not eligible for any federal student loans, but the Web Development Program is eligible for financial assistance under the Information and Communication Technology Requalification and Training Program, or PRATIC. This program helps unemployed people work toward a career in the IT industry.

Concordia offers additional payment options outside of the installment plan. They accept lines of credit from many major Canadian banks, Military Training Benefits, and offer a Loyalty Discount to students who have completed other courses at Concordia University.

Career Support Services

Concordia Bootcamp has an entire Career Support Team available to students after graduation. Career coaches will work 1-on-1 with students on activities like improving interview skills, reviewing cover letters, and also will provide encouragement throughout the job search, which is an understandably daunting process. The Career Support Team also works hard at building relationships with local employers and hosting job fairs to get students networking as much as possible. Access to these services does mean that students are expected to put in a fair amount of effort as well. For example, they must submit a minimum number of job applications per week.
