Learn video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro and motion graphics and animation with After Effects. See how the apps work together, as well as the workflow to go from concept to fully edited video. You'll work on projects to learn the software and the creative techniques and concepts for editing videos.

## Instructors

### Stephen MacGillivray — Instructor

Stephen teaches classes in the Motion Graphics and Video Editing Certificate programs. 

In addition to his work with Noble Desktop,  Stephen teaches Nonfiction and Fiction Video Production, Motion Graphics, and Introduction to Film Production to grades 9-12 at LREI, a private K-12 school in New York’s Greenwich Village. 

In addition to teaching media classes, he runs his own production company, Indian Summer Media. Through ISM he works as a freelance producer, specializing in documentary style films. 

Stephen holds a B.A. in Classics from Concordia University in Montreal and an MFA in Screenwriting from Columbia University. 

While an accomplished professional, his most beloved project has been raising his two young daughters, Margaret and Grace.

### Michael Venzor — Instructor

Michael Venzor is a multi-disciplinary filmmaker, video editor, and motion graphics artist with over twenty years of professional experience across television and short films, commercial projects, and educational media. His background spans the full post-production pipeline, including editing, animation, visual storytelling, and workflow design.

A dedicated educator and mentor, Michael has spent years teaching video editing and animation to students of all experience levels, helping them build both technical proficiency and creative confidence. His teaching style emphasizes real-world workflows, thoughtful problem-solving, and clear communication, empowering students to develop skills they can immediately apply in professional environments.

### Jerron Smith — Program Director & Senior Instructor

Jerron has more than 25 years of experience working with graphics and video and expert-level certifications in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator along with an extensive knowledge of other animation programs like Cinema 4D, Adobe Animate, and 3ds Max. 

He has authored multiple books and video training series on computer graphics software such as: After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash (back when it was a thing).

He has taught at the college level for over 20 years at schools such as NYCCT (New York City College of Technology),  NYIT (The New York Institute of Technology), and FIT (The Fashion Institute of Technology).

### Who is the target audience for this course?

The Video Editing & Motion Graphics Certificate is for those seeking to learn industry-standard tools and editing skills for creating professional-grade videos and motion graphics/animations. This program is best suited for: Individuals looking to start a career as a Video Editor, Motion Graphics Designer, or Animator. Designers looking to add video editing and motion graphics/animation to their current skill sets. Marketing professionals looking to produce video and motion graphics content for campaigns.

### Does this certificate include job support?

In addition to 126 hours of interactive training, you will receive ten 1-on-1 mentoring sessions that can be used for career and job support, including polishing your resume, preparing for interviews, and reviewing best practices for applying to jobs. Note, however, that we don’t provide job placement (i.e. reaching out to companies on your behalf).

### Is there mandatory work outside of the classroom?

Students are required to complete class projects outside of class hours for the Video Editing Bootcamp and Motion Graphics Bootcamp classes. Students are not required to complete any work outside of class for the Premiere Pro or After Effects Bootcamps . Additionally, students are encouraged to practice the skills learned in class and develop a demo reel (portfolio) of work.

### How many students are in a class?

Noble’s typical class ranges from 8–12 students, but we accept up to 20 students.

### How does the custom schedule work and what is the recommended class order?

We have scheduled the certificate classes in various tracks (day, night, or weekend) for your convenience, but you can customize your schedule. When creating a custom schedule, you’ll be able to choose between the various available dates for each class in the certificate program. If you can’t make a particular class, you can choose a different scheduled instance that works better for you. Please keep the following in mind when scheduling: We highly recommend taking Premiere Pro before After Effects . You must take the After Effects Bootcamp before After Effects Advanced . You must take Premiere Pro before taking the Video Editing Bootcamp class (because you’ll be using those apps as you work on projects for your demo reel). You must take Premiere Pro and After Effects before taking the Motion Graphics Bootcamp class (because you’ll be using those apps as you work on projects for your demo reel).

### I’m not great with either Photoshop or Illustrator but I really like motion graphics. What should I do?

That’s OK! But we do suggest that you take both the Photoshop in a Day and Illustrator in a Day courses before taking the courses in the Motion Graphics Certificate. The Photoshop and Illustrator in a Day courses are designed to get you comfortable with all the basics of both apps, in a short amount of time, and together provide a great foundation for the Motion Graphics Certificate.

### Does this course require any prior knowledge or experience?

You must be comfortable using a computer. Recommendations: Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator is helpful, but not required. If you’ve never used Photoshop, consider taking either our Photoshop in a Day or Photoshop Bootcamp class. If you’ve never used Illustrator, consider taking either our Illustrator in a Day or Illustrator Bootcamp class. Design skills are helpful, but not required.

### What computer do I need to run Premiere Pro and After Effects?

After Effects and Premiere Pro will both run on either Mac or PC. Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Premiere Pro and After Effects

### Will I receive access to Adobe Creative Cloud software?

Yes, students enrolled in this course will receive 4 months of access to Adobe Creative Cloud software. After registering, please email hello@nobledesktop.com for instructions.

### What kind of laptop is suitable for completing the work in this course?

Any laptop with the below specifications would be suitable: macOS Monterey (or later) or Windows 11 Model from 2021 onward is preferred RAM: 16GB minimum; 32-64GB or higher preferred 13.6-inch (2560 x 1664) display or larger External monitor preferred

### Is this course open to beginners?

Yes, this course is open to beginners. Students must be comfortable using a computer. No other prior knowledge is required.
