| Graphic Design Fundamentals
learn the basics of graphic design
In this class you will learn the theories of graphic design while designing and producing several real-world projects. This class will meet for ten sessions and include an intense design workload. Students will be expected to work on design projects outside of class.
This class is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of graphic design concepts as well as instruct students on how to design materials for print and web. Projects include a logo, advertisement with type and images, magazine article, web site design (static), and more!
Students should have an intermediate knowledge of InDesign (Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus, but not required). Throughout the course, the instructor will provide various handouts and reference materials.
Each class project will begin with a lecture and work session, and end with a class critique the following week. Although there may be some in-class
work time, all projects will need to be completed outside of class.
Each assignment must be printed out in color at actual size, trimmed, and mounted for presentation in class unless otherwise specified. Print projects will not be critiqued onscreen under any circumstances.
